The Big C?

"Mom, I want to be tested for cancer."

#2 Son came into the kitchen and dropped that bombshell. It took me a moment to recover.

Why?

"Well, I've been exposed to uranium," he said.

Shaking my head, i asked How?

"Don't ask," he replied. "Just remember that I have crazy friends."

Like they don't say the same thing about him to their parents? But i digress.

Son, the best way to test to see if you have cancer anywhere in your body when you have no symptoms is an MRI that insurance will not cover for $800-$1000.

"Oh, never mind."

To quote Foghorn Leghorn, "Something the matter with that boy."

  1. Oh, my. I must say, that IS a new one, in my book. Hopefully one of his friends isn't trying to build a reactor, and scraping thousands of glow in the dark watches into a pile or some such... And though I am *not* an expert, by any stretch, if he was exposed to a smaller amount, for a short period, it shouldn't be a problem. (I was around a tiny reactor for a time in college, though they made me wear a dosimeter, it was sort of a duty thing...)

    Uranium. Huh.
