Like Old Times

When sweet little boys turn into crazy teens, something happens. In the case of #2 Son, i often wonder where that nice little guy went.

Yes, i know he will be back, and i now have evidence (besides the fact that #1 Son did the same thing).

When #2 Son was a preteen, he was once invited on a sleepover at a camp with a bunch of boys. As i watched him pack, i told him to be sure to bring his toothbrush and deodorant. He responded by saying he wasn't going to bring either, as he wanted to "knock them over with my man stink!"

On Sunday morning, as i reminded the kids to get their uniform shirts into the laundry so they would be clean for Monday, i was rewarded with a shirt from Bigger Girl and Little Girl. Tracking down #2 Son, i told him to bring the shirt, and Young Jake, who had spent the night with #1 Son, said, "I think he might still be wearing it from Friday."

He was. Young Jake laughed for quite a while as i insisted he take it off and bring it right then.

The sweet but stinky little guy is still in there, and he will be back soon.

  1. I smother my girl these days as I know the little girl will be retreating soon.
    TEMPORARILY I hope, too.

  2. Having kids sounds like such an emotional rollercoaster--have some absinthe and cheesedoodles and I'm sure you'll feel better!

  4. Miz, just think back on your own youth, and you will see how it does play out.

Crabby, the little ones step on your toes, the big ones, your heart. But they are worth it, even without the cheesedoodles.

    Stephen, i'm certain of that!
