Plus Two

The results of several calls last week about more kittens has resulted in our numbers reaching nine.

The two latest were an interesting case.  Feral mama cat had them in an elevator shaft, of all places, in the tiny space at the very bottom behind the elevator.  The lady who lived in that apartment complex whom the management knew worked in animal rescue was called.

She answered the call, although she has never worked with cats, bottle raises dogs that are abandoned by their mamas, and is highly allergic to cats.

For three weeks, despite her worsening symptoms, she took pristine care of them.  They are used to baths, and know their names.  She socialized them through lots of handling, and even let them play with her dog (who was scared of them!).  That's dedication.

Natasha and Boris

She picked just the right names, too.

  8. What a great woman to raise them despite her allergy! So kind and caring.
If it's Potato Day and Watch the Pot Wednesday -- Fairy Calendar (sometimes actually occurs on a Wednesday, more often not) is it safe to assume there are potatoes in the pot?

  12. Adriana Alfaro, who now has Natasha, shared your post with me today. I'm Boris's kitty-mom now, though we call him Pippin. He has grown into such a big boy, you wouldn't believe he's the same kitten pictured above. He's 3' from nose to tail and weighs 12+ pounds! He's also an incredibly sweet, happy-go-lucky boy. He and my husband were fast friends from the moment the Cat Haven counselor put Pippin in his arms and he started purring like an engine. He and our 6-year-old female, Sabra, get along well, too, scampering about the house together, playing kitty games.

I just wanted to say a huge "thank you" to you and, if ever you meet her, to the lady who took such great care of them in their first weeks. I know that volunteers do this out of their own love for the animals they rescue, but you also deserve the thanks and recognition of those of us who, because of your dedication, adopt these babies to give them a forever home.
