Six Sentence Story: Resolve

"So, how are we going to resolve this?" he asked as she sat studying the calendar so hard he could almost see the gears turning in her head.

Without even looking up, she told him, "It's simple, until the car is repaired or replaced, I drive to my morning jobs, then come home, and you drive me to my evening jobs so the kids can have my car."

"And when both of them need to be at work at the same time, hmmm?" he came back, knowing the answer but wishing he didn't.

"One has the car, and either you take the other or that one has to bum a ride from a friend."

"Car juggling is not fun, it always ends up with someone not getting somewhere on time!" he exclaimed, a very sour expression on his face.

"It's the best we can do for now," she said, and he just shook his head, knowing she was right on that account.

Happily Ever After

And so, #2 Son and DIL Becky's wedding.

#1 Son had informed us the night before that he didn't have pants to wear.  As the Best Man, that would not exactly be acceptable.  Little Girl also informed me that DIL Becky had so enjoyed the turkey stuffing at Christmas Day dinner (Stove Top brand stuffing for turkey, with real turkey broth!) that she wanted some to serve at the wedding.  Thus i made an early morning run to Mall-Mart to get stuffing mix and a pair of black pants.  The pants were easily procured, but they were out of stuffing.  An extra trip was made to MomAndPopStore, which not only had it, but had it on sale.

Stuffing was made while #1 Son's shirt was in the wash.  Nothing like leaving everything until the last minute, is there?

The wedding itself was the usual mix of the beautiful and the comical that tends to make these events memorable.  It was at the bride's parents' home, which is where the two of them will continue to live.  There's plenty of room, it's a farm with a house big enough for three families.

There were beautiful decorations that were just for the wedding

A wreath next to the Bride and Groom's table.

next to the items that let you know just what kind of family he's marrying into.

Can we say "country folk"?  Very kind and loving, very country.
#2 Son had built the arch under which they said their vows.  It was lovely.

He can build an arch.

His cake had not turned out so well.

#2 Son and Mother-of-the-Bride had laughed themselves silly over it as it collapsed!

When i offered to go get them a cake, #2 Son kept saying not to bother, but the word came from the bride that yes, if i was willing, she wanted another one.  So there i was, a half hour before the ceremony was set to begin, buying an Italian cream cake at yet another Mall-Mart.

Italian cream cake, to which i added blue frosting and the topper.

When i offered to go get a cake, i was busy getting the chocolate strawberries ready.  So i handed that off to Bigger Girl, who managed to get some strawberries done

Delicious tasting, although not professionally done.

and managed to make a nice mess, too.

Little on earth is messier than chocolate.

They had written their own vows, and DIL Becky read hers off of her iPad, which she carried instead of a bouquet.  Ah, kids these days.  It is, however, a good thing she had them to read, as she and her mother both cried through the whole thing, and she never would have remembered if she hadn't had them written down.

This, to me, is the picture that sums it up:

Two hearts, one favorite soft drink.

My only hope is that they stay happy.

Fun All Around

The dog parade came to share our Christmas yesterday.

Christmas was a grand celebration, everyone in the family was there.  Gifts of all kinds and sorts were exchanged, from the fun and silly, like the pin i now own

Tinkerbell is fun, and i'd love to sprinkle some pixie dust sometimes!

to the practical, like umbrellas and new shirts, to the unneeded but much enjoyed iTumes gift cards.

Also, we had four dogs.  Sadie lives at Grandma and Grandpa's house, and Uncle J brought his 3, and so everywhere we turned, there were dogs.

Dogs in the kitchen, wondering when the fun starts.

Dogs in the dining room, waiting for a treat.

They enjoyed the day as much as we did, especially Sadie.  She loves to see her "cousins," always trying to keep up with them.

Being an only dog can get lonely, it's nice to have a friend to let your tongue hang out with!

Today we have #2 Son's wedding, where Fiancée Becky will become DIL Becky.  Everyone who was at the Christmas celebration will be there, with the exception of the dogs.  This morning, i'm running to a store to buy #1 Son a nice pair of pants to wear, since he's the best man.  Nothing like waiting until the last minute, is there?  He only asked me yesterday if i could get them!

It's going to be a great day.
