Six Sentence Story: Pay Attention!

"He does not listen, and does not wait to be called on," the teacher was telling the parents for probably the thirty-second time.

"His problem," the mother answered, "is that if he thinks of something and does not say it that very second, he forgets it.  He tells me that if he waits for you to call on him, by that time, he's forgotten what he wanted to say, so he just blurts it out.

"That doesn't make it right, of course, but I hardly think he needs special testing or a special education plan simply because he talks out of turn."

"Something does need to be done," the teacher said, looking at them sternly.

"We will work with him on it," the mother said wearily as she and her husband got up to leave.
