Six Sentence Story: Post

"Watch out for that post," he said as she swung the car around to back into a parking space.

"Of course I'm watching out for it," she said.  "Don't you think I know how to park the car when you aren't here?"

"I don't know, do you?" he grinned as she first glared at him and then grinned back.

"I've never hurt you with my driving yet, so you don't have to be a back seat driver," she said with a laugh.

"The only thing I want to do with the back seat is get back there with you," he said, winking at his wife with a look that told her they would definitely be watching the submarine races that night.

  1. Love your story! I bug the heck out of my husband by back-seat driving, but seriously, he's a very aggressive driver and has had accidents. You can't tell a man anything though...

  3. This is great. Watching submarine races was the euphemism for parking back in the shore town in which I grew up. Isn't it just like a man to correct his wife's driving? I get that a lot, without the wink.

  8. I agree with Lexa Cain. You can't tell a man anything.

    One night when my dad was pulling out of a restaurant parking lot, my mom warned him about a row of posts behind us.

    "I see the post," he said angrily, "I see it!" A few seconds later we hear a loud crash.

    We kids were trying to control our giggles because my father was fuming mad.

    No one spoke on the ride home.

    I don't there was any submarine races that night.
