Friday: Kitten Help and Fill-Ins

Feline Friday is hosted by Steve, The Burnt Food Dude, and i'm going to believe it's because he likes cats.
Feline Friday is simple to join. All you have to do is..

1) post a picture, drawing, cartoon or video of a cat (They may be silly or cute)

2) go to Steve's page, linked above, then on the menu bar click on the Feline Friday tab to get the code

3) paste the code under your cat picture

4) add your name and link

That’s all there is to it! Be sure to check back every so often and visit all the Feline Friday bloggers. Also, please leave a nice comment on their blogs. Nasty comments will be deleted!

Sometimes it's hard to clean the kitten cages at the shelter when the kittens are trying to climb out on you while you do it.

But I think I can help if you just let me climb on you!

Friendly Fill-Ins are easy to do. There are four statements: the first two statements are provided by Ellen of 15AndMeowing, and the final two are offered by McGuffy Ann Morris of McGuffy's Reader. They try to make sure the statements will be fun to both answer and share. The linky will be posted at or about 12:00 AM on Friday. Please head over to one of their sites, link up, and share your thoughts!

My fill-ins for the statements are underlined:

Week 45: March 17, 2017

1. The oldest item in my home is __________________________.

2. The oldest item in my refrigerator is _____________________.

3. My family heritage is _____________________.

4. My favourite family tradition is ____________________.

1.  The oldest item in my home is probably the rosebud vase.  It has been passed down through the women in the family for seven generations.

The rosebud vase.

2. The oldest item in my refrigerator is most likely to be the take out packets of soy sauce, as those never really go bad.  At least, i hope they don't, because they just collect in the door and never go away.

3. My family heritage is complicated.  A sign i saw in a store the other day summed it up well with "My family tree has some crazy twisted roots!"  Part of my family is British and Scots/Irish, part is Italian, but through an Italian who settled in Palestine and married a Christian Palestinian (as best we can tell), so there's Middle Eastern in there, too.  Then there's Sweetie, whose biological father was part German, part Scot, and whose biological mother was half German and half Wichita Native American.  It means our kids are Heinz 57 Varieties, indeed!

4. My favourite family tradition is the entry and exit hugs when gathering for holidays.  No matter how long it takes, you hug everyone on the way in and on the way out, and when someone else arrives, everyone gets up and hugs everyone again.  We even hug the people we are going home with!

  3. Very cute kitten, I would be tempted to take him home. Thank you for participating in the fill-ins, I always enjoy your answers. I LOVE that you have a hugging tradition, so sweet. That is a beautiful vase and how impressive that it has survived your children growing up. I have a lot of ceramic bunnies with broken ears ( my niece's fault). Happy St. Patty's Day! Have a great weekend.

  4. What a cute kitten who just wants attention and love. I hope it finds a forever home soon.

The hugging on the way into a family function, and hugging on the way out is very Italian/Sicilian. I so remember. I was married to a Sicilian long ago.

Have a purrfect Feline Friday. ☺

  8. I had a cat that liked to ride on my shoulder when she was a kitten. I think they like to be high, like a dog likes going fast in a car! Your 57 Varieties family are TRUE Americans. We all benefit from our cultural diversity and different ethnic backgrounds. Have a great weekend!

  9. I love your hugging tradition. My family always practice the going and coming hugs, too. :)

Your vase is beautiful. Imagine the stories that it could tell. Beautiful!

My family has some pretty twisted roots, too. I have one 3rd great-grandpa that I can't think of his arrangements without getting a headache. haha He was married twice and had several sons from his first wife (my 2nd great-grandpa being one of them). When his first wife died, he remarried to a lady named Tabitha King. A year later, one of his sons (my uncle) from the first wife married Susan King...the sister of Tabitha. So, my 3rd great-grandpa is both uncle and grandpa to my uncle's children and I get a headache well before I get it figured out what the children from both marriages are to each other. AND Tabitha was both mother-in-law and sister to Susan. I don't know about you, but I wouldn't want my sister to be my mother-in-law. We had enough with sister arguing. I wouldn't want to add in-law arguing in on top of that. haha

I enjoyed your post. Have a blessed weekend!

  11. What a cute little kitten! Makes my day. Your heritage sounds as complex as mine. I think that is fine, though. I really love the rosebud vase and all that it represents. Yes, we understand those soy packets. Ha! We have them, too! Oh, Mimi, I am a hugger. I would love your family. Hugs!
