Not Ashamed / Late Request

Rory Bore at Ink Interrupted hosts the Tuesday Coffee Chat, and this week the topic is,  Shameful!!!   Come on, fess up!  We all have a book, movie, or song... maybe even celebrity crush that we are a bit ashamed to say we love!   I'm listening.

What is this, True Confessions Magazine? :)

This is one i'm having to reach to answer, because there isn't much i like that i'd be ashamed to claim.

Even though i grew up with rock 'n roll, i admit i have a bit of a crush on Hank Williams.  Which one?  How about all 3, for different reasons.  My taste is eclectic, okay?

Speaking of which, that reminds me of another like of mine that might be worthy of this topic.  If you ask me about which movie character i envy, i say Elsa Schneider of Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade.  While i would never be this way in real life (i am, after all, a little old church lady for a reason), i must admit that if the rules about adultery didn't apply, i'd want to be her.  She got to be with both Dr. Jones and Dr. Jones!

How about you?  Anything on this topic you wish to confess?

Tuesday Random Thoughts

Stacy Uncorked

And now, a bit of random news from around here, linking up with Stacy's Random Thoughts at Stacy Uncorked.

As must be clear by now, we arrived home from vacation safely.  The cats were all present and accounted for (and Horizon was hiding as he always does when Sweetie is gone for more than 24 hours).

My Jalopy was obviously driven while i was gone, which is good, but it now has the check engine light on again and a new crack in the windshield, which is not good.  My hope is Bigger Girl put some gas in her and didn't know the trick for screwing the gas cap back on (turn it three times, even after it starts to click).  If it's not done right, the emissions system goes bonkers.  The cracks in the glass can get in line with every other repair that gets put off around here.

On Saturday, July 1, my brother, the children's Uncle P, will be getting married to Miss Eva.  We were all planning to go down there that Saturday to attend what we were assured would be a very simple ceremony.

This past Sunday, Miss Eva called and asked me to be her Maid of Honor.

This week, i will be rushing like a madwoman to both work and find a dress (my one good outfit is fine for a wedding guest, but not to stand in a wedding), and Sweetie and i will have to go down on Friday, June 30, so i can be at the rehearsal.  Also, i will try, with Grandma's help, to arrange someone to do Miss Eva's hair and make-up that Saturday morning (heaven knows she doesn't want me doing it).

There's nothing like a little rush planning, is there?  After all, if you want something done, ask a busy woman.

It will all turn out well, though, and in the end, i will have a sister.  That's worth it.

  3. I love that expression about asking a busy woman... I'm sort of the cautionary tale about the opposite, the less I have to do, the less time I seem to have to do it. (Or to not get around to doing it, to be more accurate).

Hope it's a wonderful wedding, congrats to the couple and I bet you'll look wonderful!

  5. I was that busy woman when I was working. Now I'm just the retired lady that did way too much volunteering for way too many organizations. Congratulations on being ask to be the maid of honor. That is indeed an honor.

    Have a fabulous day. ☺

  7. Your being asked to be Maid of Honor is an honor. It sounds like there will be tons of great family occasions as a result of this wedding. It sounds wonderful to me.

I find it curious that nobody mentioned your confessions question though so here goes your first one... I must admit that for years I thought Ripley from "Alien" was the iconic woman. She didn't have super powers (no offense, Wonder Woman, I love you, too), she was everywoman and yet she, and she alone, was able rise up and kill the alien. Don't get me wrong, I'm not fond of Sigourney Weaver the actress, but I'm very fond of her portrayal of my hero, Ripley.

  8. I forgot to mention my crush... I must admit at one time I was fascinated by Ralph Fiennes. Then he became Valdemort. Go figure ;)
