Summer: To Do or To-do?

Rory Bore at Ink Interrupted hosts the Tuesday Coffee Chat, and this week the topic is, Three things on your Summer To Do List.

One of them is on the to-done list, and that is to go on vacation.  It was a quiet, restful one this time, which is unusual for us, and a nice change of pace.

What else is up for the summer?  Frankly, once the wedding is over this weekend, not much.  Work will have to be done regularly because there are these things called "bills" that keep coming in.  Some of them also keep increasing.

Summer is spent mostly trying to stay cool and praying we do not have any major storms.

The library is a great place to go in the summer, so i may try getting there at least once a week.

When the children were young, we did VBS and were at the library 2 or three times a week and had swim team and lots planned.  Now that i'm looking at this topic, i feel old and boring.

Once autumn comes, and it's not hot enough to accidentally brand yourself with your seatbelt every time you get in the car, i wouldn't mind going to the local swamp nature center, as it's been a long time since i've been.  In fact, i'm going to plan it out and do it.  Also, i want to plan a weekend trip to visit a friend later in the year.

Summer has become a great time, i think, to plan indoor activities.  It's in the autumn that i will come alive again.

Tuesday Random Thoughts

Stacy Uncorked

And now, a bit of random news from around here, linking up with Stacy's Random Thoughts at Stacy Uncorked.

The recent rains from Cindy were great for the blooming things.

Ms. S, my Monday lady, is having trouble and i am very concerned.  She seems more frail right now than ever before, even than right after her last surgery.

Mr. B, for whom i work every other Saturday, has taken a break from sorting all the screws and nails and bolts and etc. in the workshop and we are doing projects.  Well, he is doing projects, and i am cleaning the things he wants to work on, since most of them are covered in grime.  Last Saturday i unloaded the two storage closet floors and swept them, and cleaned and polished a wine cooler he is going to sell on Craigslist and an old dentist's cabinet he is going to convert to yet another tool storage unit.  The one thing that man has is tons and tons of is tools.

Finally, we are back in business, the kitten business, that is.  Two girls, mama was run over, they are doing well.

They never hold still for a photo, even if they are at the "rubber legs" stage.

  1. I agree that most of the time summer is for hibernating and fall is for an energetic activity or two. This fall will be filled with dividing perennials and iris.

  2. When it's hot I don't want to do anything at all and just hibernate. Fall is great with its crisp, cool days. Love those flower pictures :-)

  3. I just saw that Trump is attacking Canada. We never had any problems with our two countries before he came. I love the United States.
Oh well, it won't make any difference. I have many friends in the US and thank God for them.
    See ya Mimi.

  4. I have great memories of the swamp nature center. I wonder if the bird who takes ecstatic baths in a bowl could still be there :)

  6. Pretty flowers. So sad about the mama cat. I am glad it rained today to bring down the temperature. Have a wonderful day!

  7. Summer here a time for the pool. You have to get your swim in early in the day because of the afternoon showers. Looking out for storms is also a big deal for us, but we're prepared and hopeful that we won't have to use any of it.

I'm sorry about the mother cat, but I know her babies are in good hands.

  8. Here in Oregon it doesn't stay hot long enough to hibernate during the summer, which is a good thing because I don't like heat.

  9. We don't have too much on our Summer To-Dos this year. There won't be any vacations or staycations but we'll try to make time to enjoy some simply knocking off in town or nearby. It'll be wonderful to get the many health related issues all behind us. Hopefully next spring/summer won't be consumed by such headaches. Have a good week!

  10. Summer is in full swing here and we are busy boating. It's what we do and we love it. We have some long cruises coming up and we're looking forward to that.

Love all the flowers. Very beautiful.

If you were near I'd hire you to do my housework. Here's a key and you can pick your day.

Have a fabulous day and week. ☺

  11. KITTIES!!!!!! Oh, sorry, I was momentarily giddy with seeing a pic of the furbabies. ;) How sad about the mama cat, though. :(

My mom used to take us to the library weekly during the summer, and we did VBS - sometimes I miss those days!

What pretty pretty blooms you have! The hubby's been working hard clearing out our property - so much was untended and overgrown for too long before we bought this house - but next year we'll have some pretty stuff going on after all his hard work. ;)

    Have a great week!
