The wonderful Annie of McGuffy's Reader is hosting Sparks, an inspirational and  positive thought for the week link-up, every Monday.
"The negative energy in the world has become thick and oppressive. Social media has become a part of this dark, negative storm. There is an obvious universal need for more positive energy. And, we can all be part of this affirmative change." ~ McGuffy Ann Morris

My "Spark" for the day is the "Pledge of Respect" from the BRRespect Movement:

As a citizen of Baton Rouge, I commit myself to help create a better community by upholding these standards of respect.
To treat others the way I want to be treated.
To practice kindness.
To return disrespect with respect.
To be slow to anger and quick to forgive.
To honor others before myself.
To give to someone who cannot give in return.
To serve without thought of recognition or personal gain.
To be my best and give my best every day.
To see beyong the past and look toward the future for the good of our community, so that together we can "secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity."

  3. Mimi,

This pledge is one all communities across the country should uphold. Just imagine the difference we would see in our neighbors if we all lived by these worlds?! I just thought of a song (Pass It On by Kurt Kaiser)that mentions the power of a "spark" and I just added it to my post. Thanks for the inspiration & have a sparkstastical week, my friend!

  8. I love the Pledge of Respect. Throughout my teaching ( 31 year ). I always told my students that they didn't have to like me but they had to respect me because I would respect them all. Guess what Mimi? Some hated me but they still respected me for who I was even though I tried to teach them. I believed in discipline with respect & love and to this day, my students still love and respect me I'm so happy.
    See ya my friend.

  14. Great post! Lots of positive shares here. I try very hard to live by the Golden Rule yet it is difficult with all the negativity going around. I choose kindness, always will. Our youngest Hannah works with young children so I enjoy hearing stories. Kids do and say some pretty cute things. Have a great week! HUGS
