It's time once again for a random and happy Tuesday, linking up with Stacy's Random Thoughts at Stacy Uncorked and Sandee at Comedy Plus.
In church yesterday, the Pastor told a story during his sermon that made us all laugh. He was walking downtown to get a sandwich for lunch when he noticed a lady who is a church member standing on the street corner. As he walked past, he said hello and began talking to her, and she said she was waiting for her husband so they could grab a quick bite together before he had to go back to work. "And there he is!" she said, and waved to him. He didn't wave back until he got closer, and then he laughed when he walked up and said, "Pastor, I'm glad to see it's you standing next to my wife. I was starting to wonder why some man was talking to her and thinking I was going to have to whup up on him and send him on his way!"
Ms. RW, an every-other-Wednesday client, was insisting while i was there last week on scrubbing the toilets with the pumice stone, even though i do that regularly. She tells me she doesn't want me to have to do it and that she enjoys it!
Later, we got to talking about different churches, and funerals, and how much she wants her funeral to be a celebration of her life. She said, "I enjoy funerals that are celebrations and everyone is sad the person is gone but happy for their life. I hope everyone likes my funeral as much as I've enjoyed some I've been to. Then again, I also enjoy cleaning my toilets, so maybe I'm expecting too much!"

ReplyDeleteThe pastor talking to the wife sceniro made me smile. I'm sure the hubby was just horsing around with the pastor but there are some guys that jealous. I shouldn't say too much about men when women can be equally bad if not worse. Cleaning toliets is for the birds! Ours are so old that even with a pumice stone it's hard to get all of the build up off. I've tried Limeaway and CLR, too. What do you suggest besides dynamite? :) I think funerals should be a celebration of one's life instead of a mourning event. It's hard to not be sad but mingling the sorrow with joy is by far better way of getting through a difficult time and it helps the hearts of the living to heal.

ReplyDeleteI like Ms. RW. I expect she doesn't like cleaning toilets, just she is not comfortable with someone else cleaning HER toilet, shows respect.

ReplyDeleteI keep our toilets clean, but it's not my favorite chore either.
As for funerals we won't have one. We are retired law enforcement and you haven't see what they will do if they are allowed to show up at your funeral. Hubby and I call them dog and pony shows.

ReplyDeleteMs. RW sounds like a treat! You can tell her I'll let her clean my toilets if she enjoys that chore...heh!! And I'm with her - I'd much rather have a celebration of life vs. a sad funeral. :)
