It's time once again for a random and happy Tuesday, linking up with Stacy's Random Thoughts at Stacy Uncorked and Sandee at Comedy Plus.

A few weeks ago (yes, this really happened), a lady was standing outside of the Methodist Church holding a sign that said:

The end is near!

A few of the members of the church were in a quandary, wondering what, if anything, they should do.  Someone finally approached her and asked if she would like to come in and join them for worship and maybe coffee in the parlor after.

At first she looked startled, and then she burst out laughing and said, "Oh, I understand!  No, I'm holding this sign for the people who are running in the downtown marathon today, to tell them they are getting close to the finish line!"

Even Dr. D can't top that one today.  She had taken a medication last week that left her feeling quite green around the gills, and spent most of the time in bed or sitting down.

We still got things done, i ran errands and dragged items out to the curb to be picked up with the garbage tomorrow.

She is still trying to decide if the outdoor iron furniture is going to be given away or set at the curb for any takers.  She wants to ask around to see if anyone wants it.

It's like this, only worse, and with dirt.

Trust me, it would need enough work that no one wants it.  If we set it out next week, a scrapper will get it, which is the best thing that could happen.

If anyone needs a pick-me-up story after all the news about Notre Dame (i sure do!), here's one.  It starts out awful, with a young man's attempted suicide.  Everyone, especially the doctors, thought he was a goner.  When they finally decided to remove the breathing tube, he woke up and began responding.

Everyone is astounded, ecstatic, and overjoyed.  He is the brother of one of #1 Son's very good friends, and he has a long road to recovery, but he's on the way.

Finally, a funny for your amusement that i probably should have posted with my poem yesterday, but i didn't think of it:

Hope everyone has a wonderful Tuesday!

  1. Wonderful news about that young man. I hope his life turns around and he gets the help he needs. And yes the news from Paris was dreadful.

  2. I saw videos of the burning cathedral of Notre Dame this morning. The unstoppable fire and extent of the damage is terrible.

  3. Mimi,

I'm settling in this morning after being away in Blogosphere since last Thursday. I'm feeling like that poor doggie and I hope my coffee kicks in soon. After not having a single cup yesterday, I plan to make up for the mess brew today. :) The story about 'The End Is Near' sign cracked me up. I got texts yesterday afternoon about Notre Dame. It's horrible to hear about historical landmarks being damaged and hopefully no one was injured in the fire. That's the most important thing in my opinion. Thanks for the randomness!

  5. The iron furniture is sad, but it would be a ton of work to get it back into shape. My gramma has some like that, but she has kept hers in pretty good condition.

  6. The end is near. Bwahahahahahahaha. I didn't see that coming.

Put that patio furniture on the curb for pickup. Yikes.

I'm happy the young man is going to make it. He's in my prayers.

Thank you for joining the Happy Tuesday Blog Hop.

Have a fabulous Happy Tuesday, my friend. ♥

  7. You always make me laugh Mimi. The one with the "end is near " is great. I'm going to put that in my bathroom. I daughter always leaves it for me to change the roll. And the one cable one was hilarious. Thanks my friend for picking me up.

  10. Oh, let's see, how does one encourage a mushroom? I guess talk to it, like I do my houseplants? Meh...

Demeter Khloe and St. Padarn, now why would plants be venerated at this time??? Said Cat, who is really wanting to be out in her garden, and has a class, INDOORS, on the best day we'll be having this week. SIIIIIGGGH...

Oh, I am SO tempted to do that for Husband's TP sometime! My luck, it would be early in the morning and he wouldn't see it... Again, Meh... Fun to think about. And if you replace tea with the coffee and jumper cables, I could relate mightily!

  12. Thank you for uplifting news. Your Birthdays today list is missing Queen Margrethe II of Denmark, 1940. And thanks for a little laugh. The end is near - indeed!

  13. I am glad the man survived. In my area, if we put that table set out it would get taken in minutes for metal recycling. There are many that drive around in trucks looking for scrap metal.

  15. Here is my Wednesday Words effort, messymimi. I hope you have a wonderful Easter weekend with your loved ones. Take care.

"The thought of having to make an extra QUINCE pie made her wince!

As if she didn’t have enough to do in the lead-up preparation for her Easter weekend guests, all of whom would be BLIND to the hard work she’d put in; to the long hours to ensure there was nothing, not one thing about which they could accuse her of being SLOPPY!

She’d even made sure there were two spare tubes of TOOTHPASTE in the bathroom cabinet...just in case!

Some of the guests...the older, more DEBONAIR family members were very SPIRITUAL about the meaning of Easter, but the BOUNCY, excited little ones would be nigh uncontrollable over the ABOUNDING supply of Easter eggs. Not one CENT was spared in the purchase of the varied chocolate bounty!

It was her DECISION, and hers alone, to play host over the weekend ahead, so in all fairness, she only had herself to blame. She was the sole INSTRUMENT, knowing full well she could not lay the blame on anyone else for her big mouth!

She jumped at the sound of a car HORN.

The first load of guests had made their arrival known – and heard!"
