The door opens and a touseled head appears in the doorway:  "Mom, where are the trash bags?"

"They're in the cabinet where they always are, and didn't I tell you not to interrupt when I'm in my writing closet?"

"Yeah, but Sam decided to try to help you have more time to write by cleaning the litter boxes and he made a big mess on the floor and now we have to clean it and the trash can is full, and -- mom, why do you keep pointing at the door?"

"You need to get out, and shut the door, so you don't hear me say something I'm not supposed to say in front of the children!"

Ten minutes later:  "Mom, how do you get a stuck piece of toast out of the toaster?"

Grumbling and getting up: "I'll bet Dr. Seuss never had this much trouble!"

Linking up with Denise at Girlie On The Edge Blog, where she hosts Six Sentence Stories, and the cue is Point.

Gosia, of Looking for Identity, has taken over Good Fences, and it's now Good Fences Around The World.  Post a picture of a fence or gate, link back to her blog, and go visit other blogs to see what interesting fences there are out in this big world.

This old fence has a lot of character, and this time of year, a lot of color:
