More than one kind of shelter, and lots too do, a Random and Happy Tuesday Post

(Because some people like Blogger and some like WordPress, i am putting the same content at both.  If you would prefer to read this on the other site, it is linked here.)

It's time once again for a random and happy Tuesday, linking up with Stacy's Random Thoughts at Stacy Uncorked and Sandee at Comedy Plus.

Saturday was a glorious day with pretty blue skies, then a pop up shower, then pretty blue skies again.  That means summer is here i all its heated intensity.

Alston, Little Girl's boyfriend, came by with his truck and his straps and attacked the tree that has been growing in the sago palm for years.

What used to be a scraggly, tiny sago palm.

We've had the tree cut down, and painted the stumps with tree killer, to no avail.  It would start up again every year, and he had the equipment and yanked it out by the roots.

There was a hole behind it where some critter, a 'coon or a 'possum most likely, has been digging.

We also found this lovely little dirt snake.

He is so small, he probably hatched in the shelter of the palm.  He was put back in the dirt when we were done and it was safe to do so.  We like having non-venomous snakes around, they keep the vermin away.

In another kind of shelter news, for the first time that i've seen in quite a long time, the cat shelter intake room was empty!

We are, of course, starting to overflow with spring kittens, which are being adopted quite quickly.

Dr. D is back in town, and i walked into it yesterday.  Lists, meetings, laundromat, clean up after the cats, clean the house, don't stop or you might get run over.  Oh, and ironing the pillowcases and sheets.  Don't forget that we like wrinkle free sheets and pillowcases, they are more comfortable at night.

She is planning to be out of town at the end of next week, just her, not the cats.  Mr. BA and Ms. GA are going to be gone at the same time, so i will have the regular work and two houses with cats to care for.

Sweetie is busy on a new project, restoring an old drum set.  It's not bad, just dusty and a bit worn and you can tell it's been in a storage unit for quite a while.  It was given to him, and #1 Son has always been interested in taking up drums, so he may find himself the recipient of a very nice set when he and his roommate rent a house in a few months.

Have a great Tuesday, everyone!

  3. I ironed a sheet once.
    Once.
I used to iron pillowcases, but no more.
Nice to see an empty intake room.
The tiny snake is about the same size as the ones my brother and I used to catch in the bush around our town, we'd put them in our pockets and release them in the classroom, so of course the teacher would panic and send us all outside. mission accomplished, ha ha.

  4. Aww super cute snake. I love that you just put it back. I'd have done the same. Ironing bedsheets and pillowcases. No way. we can iron thew with our bum when we go to bed, as my great aunt once said.

  5. I can't imagine having nicely ironed pillowcases and sheets! I agree that smooth sheets are more comfortable than non-smooth sheets, but … ironed? 😳I guess when you have someone else to do it for you, why not?

  9. What a cute little snake. I'd not mess with it either. Anything that keeps rodents down is a good thing.

Glad you got that pesky tree gone for food.

Oh the drum set. The noise. I so remember since my son had a drum set.

Thank you for joining the Happy Tuesday Blog Hop.

Have a fabulous Happy Tuesday, my friend. ♥

  11. You are such a patient woman. Even if I was getting paid, I would refuse to iron sheets- such a useless waste of time. :)

  12. Yay for empty intake! Hopefully all to good, happy homes where they will be spoiled unmercifully. Yes, I am biased... Hee. I agree with you about the wee snake, but I am a minority in my family, let's just say snake phobias are real common. Ooooh, drums. Um. Beware of neighbors... But I hope they are enjoyed, nonetheless...

  14. While I approve of snakes killing vermin, you're still not going to catch me cuddling one of them in my hands.
    (Weenie Girl, remember?) ;-)
