Rain, Rain, Go Away -- And It Did! (Ten Things of Thankful)

(Because some people like Blogger and some like WordPress, i am putting the same content at both.  If you would prefer to read this on the other site, it is linked here.)

Well, well, well, what do we have to be thankful about this week?

After last weekend, my friends, there is no doubt.  No doubt at all.

We are thankful we were able to get gas in all of the cars even though some stations ran out.

We are thankful we had plenty of non-perishable food on hand.

We are thankful Mike the Generator Guy had just come and the generator is working as well as it can for its age and condition.

We are thankful an unforeseen weather phenomenon, one that can't be predicted, essentially split Barry and kept most of this part of Louisiana from drowning for what would have been the second time in 3 years.

We are thankful that when the power did go out, for all of a couple of hours, the generator worked, and when the power came back on, we had the right tool to flip the transfer switch (it no longer flips on its own, and i was using a wooden spoon, but again thanks to Mr. Mike, i now have the tool needed).

We are thankful that Sunday's rain was well within the limits the area can tolerate.

For myself, i am thankful it gave me a day to stay home.

Also that none of my clients lost power long enough to prevent me from being able to clean their homes.

As well as being thankful we are stocked up on pet supplies.  (Gotta keep the cats happy no matter what.)

Finally, a totally different thankful subject, i needed some art therapy, a little down time, so i am thankful our church sponsored an art night where a wonderful lady came in and coached us through painting a nice picture:

Please write up your own list and link up to Ten Things of Thankful, where Kristi and her co-hosts always have a warm welcome waiting.

  3. The world is big. Generators for homes are unknown to me, when the weather stops our electricity, we just wait for it to come back. Our fridge is the worst concern, but it is good for 56 hours if we do not open it, and we never lived that long without electricity. A gas stove helps, in so far that we can always cook and make hot tea. If the current stayed away for more days in winter, we migth be in trouble, but it has never happened.
It is mind expanding to read your thankful list, thank you for writing it.

  5. Pretty wet in Jersey, but drying out fast...nothing like the flooding in your neck of the woods. Glad you escaped the worst scenario...stay dry.

Nice painting, you should keep up the hobby.

  6. You've had a good week even if you had a storm blow through. It's good when things work out as they should.

Have a fabulous weekend, my friend. ♥

  12. Thank you for reminding me to stop and think about all the things for which I am thankful. One of them is having people to remind me to do so. I like the happy spirit of your painting.

  15. Saw that (storm) on the tv... (the wonders of the internet: watching a total stranger on the screen say something about the rain heading in from the Gulf of Mexico and saying, "Hey! Thats down where Mimi lives!"
Good that it wasn't what it could have been.
