Li’l Boy Blue (Awww Monday), Thought Provoking Quote of the Week, and Shield Me (Poetry Monday)

Awww Monday is hosted by Sandee at Comedy Plus.

Join us every Monday for Awww...Mondays.  Post a picture that makes you say Awww... and that's it.

Make sure you get the code from Sandee's site, linked above, and leave a link to your post so we can visit you.  What better way to start the week than with a smile!

Ms. G, who has cats and is on the board at the cat shelter, was dog-sitting while her brother and his family were on vacation.  It was nice to have Li'l Boy Blue follow me around:

Sparks, the brainchild of Annie of McGuffy's Reader, is on hiatus, so here's a Thought Provoking Quote of the Week in her honor.  This week, something Grandma sent:

Poetry Monday was started by Diane at On The Alberta/Montana Border She and Jenny at Procrastinating Donkey take turns providing a theme each week.   Charlotte/Mother Owl almost always participates, too.  This week the theme is Masks.

My doctor said to wear a mask,
And it really made me blue
‘Cause as i walked by you could not
See that i did smile at you.

So i wore a mask as i was told
Now it's traded for a shield,
To keep myself and others safe,
On that i will not yield.

The shield is better than the mask
'Cause it's clear to me and you
Now you can see it when i smile
As i usually seem to do!

What i wear now instead of a mask.

  1. Smiles, and being able to see people's mouths, is what I'm missing with all this masking up. Nice poem and nice shield.

  2. Mimi,

Cute pup! Your poem is cute, too. Wearing a shield allows you to breathe easier, too. Don't you find wearing a mask a bit suffocating? I'm glad I don't have to wear one very often or for long periods. Have an awwwesome Monday, my friend!

  3. It seems that so many people really are slaves to their debt these days. Debt is not a good thing. Glad you like the shield, some do but it doesn't work for everyone.

  9. Cute pup. Great spark - so true. And I liked the poem too- it is sad that we can't smile at others with masks on.

  11. I don't worry about seeing others smile or others seeing me smile - we smile with our eyes and our voices as well as our mouths! Here we cannot replace a mask with a shield. If you want to wear a shield you have to wear a mask under it too. Great poem, Mimi.

  13. What a cute doggie. And I feel the same way about masks. I hate not seeing smiles.

  14. Perfect!
I try to smile at everyone. And my eyes disappear.
So that is my chief problem with masks. When I smile now, no one can see anything!

  15. I've actually been amazed at how well you can still identify people, even with half their face obscured... and I just assume everyone's smiling anyhow. :-D

  16. Why not invent masks with smiles painted or sewn-in on them! :)

    Li'l Boy Blue...doesn't look too blue...he looks lovely! :)

Keep taking good care...best wishes. :)

  17. L'il Boy Blue looks like the perfect companion.
I'm only just now thinking about buying some masks, since the virus seems to be hopping over the border (via some sillies who refuse to stay home), but if it comes to full face shields, I might just buy a whole Hazmat suit instead.
