When there's a problem with lost, stray, or neglected animals anywhere in this area, sooner or later someone is going to tag Ms. G and say, "She will help."
She's got her contacts in the low cost spay/neuter community, works with rescue and trapping, a little of everything, and when a lady was passing through town the other day and her cat got out of the car at the gas station and ran in a panic, of course Ms. G was contacted.
The very skittish cat had run to the back of the gas station parking lot, near the fence by the freeway, and gone down into the storm drain where the water goes as it runs off of the parking lot.
Once i arrived at Ms. G's for work yesterday, our mission was to take one of Ms. G's live traps and a host of other items, make a shelter and set the trap, and leave it in the hopes the cat would be enticed to come up from the drain and end up caught so she could go home.
With this contraption set up, the cat could climb up out of the drain, attracted to the light coming through the hole in the top and we also hoped attracted by the smell of the sardines with which the live trap was baited, have no way to go but into said trap for the food, and it would all be over but the contacts in charge of this whole operation setting up how to get her back to her owner, who lives elsewhere.
Thus again while there were a dozen things to do at her house, Ms. G was caught up in the middle of someone else's drama, we're hoping the poor cat didn't get lost in the maze of drains down there and maybe by the time you are reading this has already come up and is in custody of people she may be afraid of, but who will see to it she's returned safely.

Happy Thanksgiving! Love your poem for Angel Sammy's poetry photo - it would be tempting to run away with that turkey and I think that's EXACTLY what the pup is thinking! Sending hugs on this special day.
ReplyDeleteLove, Pam and Teddy
I wish you a very happy thanksgiving. And I do hope that the cat manages to survive and come back to be caught. The lip trees behind the wrought iron fence are simply beautiful aren't they.
ReplyDeleteI wonder how Mrs G. knew that the cat went down the drain 🤔
ReplyDeleteA super happy Thanksgiving to you today. We sure hope you don't have to work and will find time to relax and enjoy your family. It is so sad about that lost cat. Mom's worst fear would be to lose a pet while traveling. It almost happened with Madison in 2021 and it was terrifying. We pray that kitty comes to the trap and can get back to her human.
ReplyDeleteThat poor frightened kitty, so sad. Nice thankfuls today and a fun poem too. Happy Thanksgiving from all of us at Brian's Home ~ Forever and thanks for joining Angel Brian's Thankful Thursday Blog Hop!
ReplyDeleteWishing you a Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family ~ sad about the lost kitty ~ hugs,

ReplyDeleteCharlee: "Oh, that poor kitty! We sure hope she goes into the trap so she can be returned to her owner before something bad happens or she meets Pennywise down there."
ReplyDeleteLulu: "That would definitely make for a happy Thanksgiving!"
A very nifty live trap. I've not seen anything like that before. I hope that cat made its way out and is now safely back home

Veering off track from what always has been for the unexpected (and embracing it), makes for special memories.
The poem and picture are lovely! Come home kitty.
ReplyDeleteShort and sweet poem. I hope you had a blessed day.
ReplyDeleteMs. G seems to be on the right, albeit busy track. Kitty, give in to temptation.
ReplyDeleteThat picture of Sammi's is hilarious, and your words are just right. Doggo will clearly give in to juicy temptation!
As someone who once gave a home to 9 such feral cats I thank Mrs. G for her efforts- or are they your efforts? hehehe
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed the humor in the poem.
