In the continual quest...
...to figure out what is for dinner, i had BLT sandwiches on my mind, with baked beans and potato salad.
Maybe that is why i noticed the latest craze when i glimpsed the item on the side bar as i read email.
There seems to be a hamburger chain in California (insert standard joke here) called Slater's 50/50 that features a burger that is half ground beef, half ground bacon.
The chain also seems to like to feature a new specialty once in a while, as a promo, i guess, for a month only.
This month it's called The 'merica Burger. One hundred percent ground bacon, topped with thick cut bacon, a sunny side up egg, bacon island dressing, and a slab of bacon cheddar cheese.
All this health nut can say is, ouch.
One commenter on the website where i read the story said he believes Americans are trying to kill themselves, and he wants to know when this sinful deliciousness will make its way to him in Canada.
For the sake of the Canadians, let's hope this is one idea they don't import.
As for bacon in our house, it will continue to be just another ingredient in a sandwich that will be made on whole wheat bread, and be accompanied on that bread by a generous portion of leafy green lettuce and thick slices of tomato.
Today is

Ground bacon burgers, seriously? OMG. No words.
ReplyDeleteThe bacon burger sounds like a bit too much, but if it were here I'd have one as it is Kevin Bacon's birthday 'n all.
ReplyDeleteCrabby, i agree. It's too much.
ReplyDeleteLeah, if you want to try it for that reason, i won't stop you, but i beg to be excused.
Mrs. C. is devoted to her bacon, but for me it only tastes good when fried outdoors while camping. Bacon is also one of the few things that smells better than it tastes, in my humble opinion.
ReplyDeleteStephen, i agree with you. To my Sweetie, however, he wants bacon grease in everything like his mama used to do, and he agrees that pork fat rules. To each his own.
