Silly Sunday: Pouring It On

Silly Sunday is hosted by Sandee, of Comedy Plus.

Silly Sunday is the place to come for weekly laughs.  The rules are simple, just have fun.

This is a great opportunity to get to know other bloggers and have a laugh or two in the process.

Here is how it works: Laugh and Link Up!
  1. Post a joke.
  2. Link Up with the URL to your joke in the Linky Tools Widget.
  3. Read my joke.
  4. Leave a comment to tell me how much you enjoyed my joke.
  5. Try and visit a few others participating in Silly Sunday.
  6. Go to Sandee's site, linked above, and get the Silly Sunday code for your blog, too!

A couple of weeks ago, i was very surprised by a sudden spike in our mobile phone bill, to the tune of a large amount of money we really didn't have to spend.

An accounting with the mobile company showed it was the deductible for #1 Son's lost phone.

Upon asking him how he would address this issue, he told us that he was short at the moment, having just paid his car insurance, but would give us half out of each of the next two paychecks.

As of yesterday, i found out why we still have not received anything.

"Well, I was going to transfer the money into your account," he said, "but then I noticed I was 3,000 miles overdue for my oil change, so I had to take care of that first.  I get paid again in 4 days, so I'll do it then."

While i fully expect it will happen soon, i am not going to hold my breath on the "four days."  We will get it, though, and in the mean time, this has reminded me of another Boudreaux story.

Boudreaux had done got tired o' his wife, Clothile, never bein' keepin' up wit' de maintainin' on her car, so he decide he goin' at leas' show her to check de erl [oil].

So he show her, an' den he come home a few days after dat an', well, as he done tol' Thibodeaux about it, "Dere she be! She done decide de erl is low, so she be tryin' to pour it in by de dipstick hole!"

  1. my boss at work just told a story yesterday of how she once decided to add oil to her car but she couldn't get the funnel to fit, so she poured the oil into a ziploc bag, cut the corner and drizzled the oil for about an hour into the tiny dipstick hole - not knowing any better. :)
