Adoptions, Repairs, and Misspellings, a Random Tuesday Post

Stacy Uncorked

And now, a bit of random news from around here, linking up with Stacy's Random Thoughts at Stacy Uncorked.

Last Wednesday, we took Lillian and Dahlia to the shelter.  On Friday, about two hours before i got there for my shift, they both got new forever homes!

Lillian was taken home by a couple who have recently moved to the area.  They moved into an apartment and realized the complex had a lot of feral cats, so they contacted our group and others and helped trap, neuter, and release the cats.  They are now in charge of that feral colony, which should stabilize the numbers.

Once they had that situation in hand, they decided they wanted an indoor cat for themselves, and they loved that Lillian is very feisty and playful.

Dahlia was adopted by a family of four that wanted a sweet, laid back cat.  They children are now deemed old enough by their parents, so this is their first pet.  She will be queen of the house, i am certain.

When we first bought Lunceford the Land Yacht, Sweetie's vehicle, we knew that the main belt in the engine was going to need to be replaced within about 6 months.  (All of the other repairs were a surprise.)  Since it's getting close to the six month mark, i called Kevin and Lenny to make arrangements.

Holding my breath, i asked how much it was going to cost, and how long it would take.

Less than two hours, total $135.  What!?!

If only all of our repairs could be that easy and cheap!  It was done on Saturday while we were at a church event.

Yesterday as i was driving from Ms. S's house to Ms. JAI's house, the eclipse had started.  We were going to be at about 75% here, more or less, so i didn't expect the highway department to make a big deal about it.

They did, and in a way that takes away all of the wondering about why Louisiana schools are often a shame.

There are permanent signs that give lane closing warnings, let you know if there are accidents ahead, etc.  Yesterday, they were saying "Headlights on During Elipse."

Only here.

  2. Repairs are always a wonder to me too. Some things are easy and others not so much. We're waiting on a fresh water pump replacement on our boat. We're supposed to head for the bay tomorrow afternoon. Not sure if that's going to happen, but I'm sure the price for the replacement and the mechanic will be steep. The acronym for BOAT is 'bring on another thousand'. Oh well.

    Have a fabulous day. ☺

  3. I am glad your repairs were not as expensive as you expected. Very sweet story about the kittens being adopted and the ferals also getting the needed care. Too funny about the eclipse and needing lights on :)

  4. We had maybe 60% and it was not very special without glasses. But the actual planetary thing is a big deal and glad so many people watched science.
