"You're working too hard, and I'm worried about you!" he said, his voice a good bit louder than he had intended.

"Oh, you're worried about nothing," she said with a smile, then added, "and you don't have to yell."

"You are putting in too many hours, you are preoccupied, and that shouldn't happen," he said in a softer tone, but with a hard edge, "and there's another thing, you are getting absent minded at home."

"Absent minded, pish!" she laughed.  "Prove that!"

"Here's your sign," he said, pointing to the milk she had just set in the cabinet while putting the cereal in the fridge.
