It's time once again for a random and happy Tuesday, linking up with Stacy's Random Thoughts at Stacy Uncorked and Sandee at Comedy Plus.
What were Dr. D and i up to yesterday? Glad you asked. We were up to something i was afraid was going to happen from the beginning.
Work on the office has begun, and as i figured, much of what she threw in boxes because she didn't want to look through it first that we hauled up there (my back actually did the hauling) is stuff she now wants to get rid of, pronto.
The trash bin there at the building is now locked. Since she has the office free on the grace of the family member who owns the building, she does not want to ask for a key.
Result, i am hauling it all back to her house to be disposed of there.

This particular round, it all fit in the trash can and recycle bin, since she is keeping a whole, whole lot.
When i asked her what she thought her children were going to do with all the stuff she is keeping, she said, "Pitch it, I hope."
When i asked her why she didn't pitch it all herself, she said, "That's one of the questions of the ages, and I don't know the answer."

She also sent me to do the laundry at what i call the fancy laundromat. It has shorter hours than the one i use, is a lot nicer, and the cost reflects the latter.
Dr. D’s house peculiarities include the fact that her washer/dryer stack is on a dolly, and she’s concerned if she washes large loads of sheets and towels that it will walk itself off the dolly and create havoc. Thus the nice laundromat.
Meanwhile, back at the ol' hacienda, the battle with the tax papers is starting to heat up again. It's a fight i know i'm going to lose.

Huh. I think I would not have had the patience you did with the schlepping of 'stuff'. But, then, I don't have much in the way of patience, anyway... Meh. I do sort of understand about the washer, though, ours bounce around like a kangaroo, so it would fall off of anything it would have been set on. It finally gave up the ghost, however, so maybe the new one won't try to win the Kentucky Derby each washday... Sheesh...

i have never gotten to use a fancy laundromat. That one is nice enough to do my homework. I wish you a restful weekend and one of these days I will do a grateful...just so busy.

ReplyDeleteI'm going through childhood boxes and it's all a mess. I go through it one day and trash a bunch, but it never fails that I have to keep going back through stuff again and again to get rid of more. It's a never ending process. You do feel a lot better when things are cleaned up though.
That sure is a fancy schmancy laundromat!! When I didn't have a washer and dryer, the laundromats I used to have to hang out in were totally slumming it. ;) I wonder why Dr D has her washer and dryer on a dolly? I'd be worried about them 'walking off', too!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the reminder - I really need to buckle down and do a major purge...too many boxes of "I'll go through it later..." stuff cluttering up the place. And I need to gather the paperwork I need for doing our taxes. I better get busy! :)
