It's time once again for a random and happy Tuesday, linking up with Stacy's Random Thoughts at Stacy Uncorked and Sandee at Comedy Plus. http://stacyuncorked.com
First a note to those who were worried about Cookie yesterday. She was only tied up outside for the couple of hours that we were inside cleaning the house. Most of the time she has the run of the kitchen/dining area inside, and the rest of the house when supervised. We couldn't have her in, even in the kennel, because we have to move all of her stuff including the kennel to clean around and under it. She can't stay out untied, she digs under the fence. We brought her in for treats and toys when we left.
Can anybody say SNAFU? How about FUBAR? (Situation Normal, All Fouled Up and Fouled Up Beyond All Recognition -- edited because this is a family friendly blog.)
Little Girl is back already from her military duty being a medic for war games training, and i say already because she came back early.
Her tale is rather harrowing, and includes:
one young man being forced back to duty after becoming heat sick in spite of the medics warning not to do it, which resulted in him being hospitalized
one transport truck being overturned with men in it (no serious injuries, but a lot of scrapes and bruises)
upper ranks not approving medical transports for the first week, resulting in several injuries
the medics not being assigned on and off duty hours, resulting in most of them being on duty 24/7 for the first week, which lead them to start collapsing and hallucinating
one area of the war games being declared off limits to all but the men contained there, who were not allowed to leave and only sent food once a day -- they divided themselves into gangs and went feral in the horrible heat and conditions
a commander and his assistant getting into an all out fist fight -- the sixty-year-old commander did not start it, but he finished it and put the thirty-year-old assistant in his place quite forcefully
Little Girl and her partner medic being confined to their ambulance and the area immediately surrounding it for over 30 hours at one point
When Little Girl's commander found out how badly her personnel were being treated (she sent six medics to assist this other battalion that was conducting a war game training), she came and personally got them a few days early, refusing to let it go on any longer. The medics were given passes to go off base for the last three days of their assignment, so i got to bring her home.
Of course this means that Sweetie and i are back to sharing one vehicle, and using it to pick up Brother-in-Law. That's okay, i'd rather have her back.
In other news, Mr. BA and Ms. GA went away again, just for a weekend this time. So i was back to watering flower beds and veggies and cat sitting.
Ms. GA and i exchanged some texts about the gardens:
Ms. GA: I guess no rain yet?
me: Nope!
Ms. GA: Oh, well!
me: Not until you get home!
Please note that within 12 hours of their arrival, it was raining.
Hope everyone has a wonderful Tuesday!

That training session sounds horrifying, I'm glad it got stopped.
ReplyDeleteThose war games sound completely horrific. Did they continue on after all the medics were pulled out or did they finish there. I hope the latter.
ReplyDeleteI understand why you'd rather have Sweetie back home. Those war games sound absolutely horrid. I hope Ms. GA appreciated the rain.
ReplyDeleteHow horrible! I am glad that your girl came back in good state after going through such a hard time.
ReplyDeletes'ok, I'll cover "sense of humor in bed" for you.
ReplyDelete;-p
I have two great-nephewss serving in the Army and Marines at present. I'm so grateful and my dad a WWII VET would be so proud. We can't do enough for these folks.
ReplyDeleteI really wonder how they treat those soldiers right. You'd think that they would be treated the best but they aren't. They should be shown RESPECT. See ya Mimi.
ReplyDeleteCruisin Paul
WOW, those war games sound a lot worse than some of the real things.
ReplyDeleteThank you for letting us know about Cookie. I hate to see dogs tied to anything unless it's a leash when we're going for a walk. Just saying. I should have know that you wouldn't allow that.
ReplyDeleteSounds like little girl is working for some inept folks. Safety first. In anything you do it's always safety first.
Thank you for joining the Happy Tuesday Blog Hop.
Have a fabulous Happy Tuesday, my friend. ♥
Thank you for the Cookie update- I am glad she is not tied up often. And tied up is better than getting run over. I feel bad for all the soldiers that had to suffer through that. I am glad your daughter got to go home.
ReplyDeleteGoing to have a house sitter for the first time this fall. It will be such an easy job with no pets and very few plants as the time will be October.
ReplyDeleteOh dear ~ glad your daughter is okay now and glad the doggie got rescued ~ There are some 'strange' people in this world ~
ReplyDeleteHappy Day to you,
A ShutterBug Explores,
aka (A Creative Harbor)
OH my- what a dreadful experience for your daughter! Have a good week!
ReplyDeleteOooookaaaay... I think that some reports might have to be turned in, in triplicate, but man, someone has GOT to be told what's going on. Unless they were doing that on purpose to 'toughen them up'. Which I doubt, even boot camp, you usually have a clue that you will be in less than 4 star conditions... Hope she's doing well. I like the Carl ones, going to have to look up more of those. As for Optional Holiday feast? Thanksgiving. I had that once for my birthday, which is mid summer. Roasting turkey when it's nearly 100 degrees is a true act of love. Or insanity. Take your pick...
ReplyDeleteCat
I think the word "games" needs to be removed and replaced with maybe.. an expletive ?? glad your daughter is able to be home ~~~~ ♥♥
