Thoughts On Soap
No dad has ever had the hope
That his gift would be Soap on a Rope
The person who came up with that
May have been himself on dope.
My #2 Son used to think
It was fun to give off "man stink"
Then he discovered girls and uses soap
And enough cologne to make you blink.
Cleansers and soaps are my stock-in-trade
At one time i've used almost each one made
But when there's something gooey stuck and won't budge
Then i pull out my trusty razor blade.

ReplyDeleteLove your poem, but am not a fan of excessive cologne - or man-stink (or woman-stink either).
I remember soap on a rope, very popular in the 70s and 80s. My sons used to swing theirs by the rope trying to hit the other one and see which one split first. The winner was the one which didn't split of course.
ReplyDeleteSoap on a Rope reminded me of all the little decorative soaps I have been given. (makes a good teacher gift) Been retired 25 years and still have some in a cupboard. I used to set them out when we had guests, but found nobody used them. lol People don't want to be the first to mess them up.
ReplyDeleteSorry, but I'm going to focus on the apples or the cheesecake and completely ignore the lizards. (Yes, it's people like me who forced the day in the first place!)
ReplyDeleteHope those kitties find homes real soon. Teenagers are just like aliens! They don't care, then suddenly care too much and you can smell their cologne and perfume from miles away!

ReplyDeleteAs long as a guy or gal uses soap and take regular baths then that's enough. There's a new craze we read about where some people think there's a problem with being too clean and that's think having bacteria on the skin is a good thing. I can't remember what this is called but it's the stupidest thing I've ever heard. Neat poem, though! ;)
