Going To The Dogs (Wordless Wednesday and Words for Wednesday)

***********************************

Linking up with Wordless Wednesday and Sandee at Comedy Plus.

***********************************

Words for Wednesday was begun by Delores and has become a moveable feast of word or picture or music prompts that encourages us to write stories, poems, or whatever strikes our fancy.

This month, the prompts are being provided by Elephant's Child.

This week's prompts are:

  1. marble
  2. month
  3. ashamed
  4. zealous
  5. guide
  6. sassy

And/or

  1. scald
  2. rake
  3. simple
  4. plain
  5. grind
  6. obsequious

"I like cats, they are not OBSEQUIOUS, as are some other animals I could mention."

"Hey, quit knocking my favorite pet!  I am not ASHAMED of liking dogs!"

"Who said I was talking about dogs?  But now that you mention it..."

"My dog is SASSY not servile.  And that MARBLE tabby of yours fawns all over you, PLAIN and SIMPLE."

"Cats are just ZEALOUS about making sure they get the attention they deserve."

"You mean about stealing all the attention they think they deserve.  And what's with your cat trying to RAKE the whole baked chicken off the stove?  If I hadn't grabbed it in time, there would have been gravy hot enough to SCALD poured all over the kitchen floor and no dinner for us!"

"As I recall, your dog was standing by the stove waiting for my cat to serve up a chicken dinner for both of them.  And my cat is old enough that she can no longer jump up on the counter unassisted, so I will bet your dog let her use him as the springboard.  They make good partners in crime, I would say!"

"Yeah, you're probably right.  Now that I think about it, I once saw my dog let your cat jump on his back and then up on the windowsill before he put his paws up there next to her.  And the GRIND of eating the same old kibble day in and day out probably gets to both of them.  That would explain why they are always looking for treats."

"In other words, they are getting along better than we are!"

"Sounds like it.  I sure never expected to be put with a cat person when I asked for this assignment and told them to give me a random roommate in the apartment."

"And I never thought I'd be put with a dog person, but that's how it is.  It's been a MONTH, and we've worked out schedules for who cooks and who cleans, so I'd say we've made progress."

"And I'd say our pets have learned to get along better than we have.  What say we use them as a GUIDE and call a truce?"

"Agreed.  Also, let's put my cat in my bedroom and your dog in the kennel when either of us are cooking meals.  Can't be too careful if they are going to cooperate on dinner heists."

"You said it!"
