Ordeal Over (Ten Things of Thankful)

***********************************

Some weeks i almost feel like i skid into Thankful Day and bump into it nose-first; the days are long but the week goes fast.  (Some of these are counted up in such a way as to entertain Clark, at least i hope he is entertained by it.)

We are both thankful, Sweetie and i, that the ordeal with Avis seems to be over (hypograt #1).

They agreed with our assessment that we turned the car in on a Wednesday not a Sunday, so we only owed for two days, not seven (sub-grat #1).

They refunded what they said they would (sub-grat #2).

They took the hold off of the additional funds in our account (sub-grat #3).

The credit union gave us a courtesy refund of the overdraft charge because of the circumstances (sub-grat #4).

The credit union also let us use our very small line of credit to cover everything until Avis could straighten it out, and then we paid the credit back, so we didn’t have to worry about anything else overdrafting by accident (sub-grat #5).

Yes, we are thankful that we have a great credit union (hypograt #2).

One of my clients, upon learning that we were in the middle of all this, offered to help us cover it with a loan until we recovered the money if needed, which it was not, but it was a kind offer, and i am very grateful to that client.  She also offered to set up legal help if it had been needed, and i am so thankful it was not.

This same client has also said that the next time we want to rent a car, she instead wants us to borrow hers.  She is a homebody, and mostly has her husband drive her wherever she needs to go, and she seriously wants us to use her car.  We are very thankful for clients who are also great friends.

Finally, i am thankful this week seems to have ended on a positive note, with a nice visit to Grandma and Grandpa’s house.

Please write up your own list and link up to Ten Things of Thankful, where Kristi and her co-hosts always have a warm welcome waiting.

  1. I am glad that your week came up smelling of roses.
I actually quite like the smell of compost. If it smells bad, there is something wrong.

  3. Wonderful thankfuls :D Gratz! Decimal day evokes memories.I was in England in the early summer of '71 with my family. Paying anything was a great confusion with new and old coins at the same time. We gave up, held our handful of coins to the shopkeeper and said: "Take, what you need!" I don't think we were cheated (too much!). And I'm definitely going to smell my compost pile today;)

  4. Singles Awareness Day - I wondered why I had such a spring in my step today! At least the UK didn't take the next step and change from Decimal to the Euro currency - had we done so we'd be changing back again now!

  6. Glad they cleared up that mess, but I think Avis should have kicked in a little sweetener to make up for all the trouble and worry they put you through.

  12. First: excellent visual on the introduction (most of us were exposed to cartoons of countless cute, small animals crashing into things (Bambi and Thumper, small dogs and the occasional cat) but some of us have the privilege of seeing it in real life (being out first dog, we used to play ball with Ola in the house (only if the weather would take the fun out of it outside, of course) and I'd toss the ball down the hall towards the bedrooms, Ola would go all out and, usually try and stop on an area rug, which would slid on the wood floors, taking Ola into the bedroom. She'd bounce up and run back to the living room. (the simple joy of youth, human or otherwise).
Excellent employment of the Book of Secret Rules (aka the Secret Book of Rules) section on Hypogratia.
Glad to hear you have extricated yourselfs from 'the Machine' and have made it back to your own, far more kindly world.

  13. That does sound like an ordeal! I can only imagine trying to prove that you returned the car on a certain day, with them insisting you didn't. What a nightmare!
