It’s Thankful Day, and because i’ve been so busy, i took notes!
My first thankful is that i remembered to pull my phone out and jot down the lovely happenings that lifted my spirits over the past week.
When i stopped at Trader Joe’s, i am sure i looked tired and worn out because i was, and the checker very sweetly gave me a free bag to replace the equally tired and worn out old one i was using.
At one client’s home, i went outdoors to put garbage in the can and noticed a dog taking itself for a walk with no owner nearby. Approaching carefully, i saw a collar, found the phone number, and called. The dog, who is small and 15 years old and almost deaf, had wandered from the across the street neighbor’s yard without said neighbor knowing. Neighbor and i had a nice chat and dog got home safely (and the gate relatched).
Ever since Little Girl moved out, Coda is not here full time, so i’m thankful we got to dogsit while Little Girl was out of town.
My client Ms. GA is a vegan, and she’s always trying new products. Whenever she doesn’t like something, she passes it on to me, and i am very thankful for the granola she didn’t enjoy.
Excellent customer service at the MallMart cannot go unrecognized. When i tracked someone down to assist me with an item on the top shelf, she was not only polite and helpful, she went out of her way to make sure i had what i needed. This was a double blessing as the item in question was for Dr. D’s cats, so i would have had to go to another MallMart to get it (the pampered purebreds get whatever they want!).
In yet another store adventure, i was about 15 cents short on a purchase, so i began to dig another dollar out from something stashed for a different purchase when the cashier pulled out some change from her pocket and told me that she would cover it. As i started to say i had enough, i could see she was looking so pleased with herself for having the change to help that i couldn’t dampen her joy and refuse.
Twice recently i got to Ms. S’s house at a time when i was not scheduled to be there and was just in time to help her with something. She is really getting frail, it’s a worry.
Quite a while back, at Ms. SE’s house, the boys got into their dad’s wax melter that he uses to do wax treatments when his hands ache. They made a huge mess smearing it all over, and i had started to clean it before realizing it wasn’t a normal cleaning situation. Their dad promised to let me know if it happened again, so i wouldn’t smear the stuff but would know to use a scraper to get it up properly.
Well, it happened again. He put the melter away, and when his back was turned, the 7-year-old got it out and plugged it in and he and the five-year-old had a great time. This time, however, their dad told me to sanitize that bathroom but leave the wax. He is going to give the boys scrapers this weekend and they won’t be allowed to play until they have scraped it all up themselves. There’s nothing to make you hate to cause a mess like having to clean it yourself, especially if it cuts into your playtime, so i approve!
In total, it’s been a great week, with many little happenings that helped me get through.
Please write up your own list and link up to Ten Things of Thankful, where Kristi and her co-hosts always have a warm welcome waiting.

I am so glad that you were there to help Mrs. S right when she was in need of help.❤️
ReplyDeleteHopefully the boys will learn something from Dad's lesson. What a mess to have to clean up.
People there to help reach up or get down low to get needed items from shelves are much appreciated. Glad you had someone to help you.
The kindness of others warms ones heart. I like how the little wax players will get to learn their lesson the practical way.
ReplyDeleteWhen I remember to jot down notes during the week, it is easy to compose my TToT post!
ReplyDeleteYou are such a giving person! I'm sure that Mrs. S. and her family appreciate you.
Busy week from the sounds of it.
ReplyDeleteGlad that you were able to help the dog get home. That surely must be terrible for a dog, at an age when they lose their natural abilities to find their way home.
Have a good week.
