Words for Wednesday was begun by Delores and has become a moveable feast of word or picture or music prompts to encourage us to write stories, poems, or whatever strikes our fancy.

This month, the prompts are being provided by Elephant's Child.

This week's prompts are:

  1. Practice
  2. Bent
  3. Night
  4. Fairy
  5. Never
  6. Liquid

And/or

'Out of the frying pan and into the fire...'

"Hey, watch what you're doing with that thing!"

"Sorry, I'm trying to PRACTICE making the LIQUID fire to get more light, it's dark out here in the woods at NIGHT."

"But you know the first FAIRY wand rule, NEVER practice with a BENT wand!"

"But Wand Straightening Day isn't until next month, what do I do in the meantime?"

"You use a flint and stone to kindle a fire like the humans do."

"That's the hard way.  Why did they make us do our 'weeks in the woods' just now, when it's still so cold?"

"Because it was our turn, that's why.  Someone has to be on guard duty.  And as for the regular fire, remember we can use it for light and to brew a potion for warmth, and cook some supper.  Just put that doggone thing away and let's both use my wand before some human spots straying magic and you throw us out of the frying pan and into the fire ourselves!"
