While ironing yesterday, i got to thinking about how long it takes to perfect the technique, and how out of practice i was, as well as wondering how to work that into a Thankful Day post with the letter P.
It would take way too long to become perfect at ironing, and that's not exactly the skill i want to spend 10,000 hours doing, anyway. Instead, i will be thankful that on some occasions, like yesterday, i get paid to do it.
That i am thankful for prayer should be obvious, i need it like a drowning person needs a life vest.
Peas. Grandpa taught me to love green peas, and Grandma did her best to dissuade me. Grandpa won that battle.
Peanuts, peanut butter, and peaches, three more edibles i would not want to live without.
Pants, because i cannot imagine trying to do what i do in a dress, especially yesterday (the ironing was just the start), and my pocketknife that lives in the pocket of my work bag. It has saved me on many occasions.
Right now, this moment, all is at peace here. How thankful i am for the quiet time after work.
Also, for peace officers of all types and kinds. They do a lot of great things, often unrecognized and underpaid. What would we do without them, i don't want to think about that.
Music is big in our house, and i am thankful for the piano, and that i made all of the kids get lessons. They all have a greater appreciation for music because of it.
My place of birth, NOLA. There's no city quite like it, and if you are from here, even if you move, you take it with you.
The smell of peppermint, as it is so perky.
Our Post Office, because getting items in the post (other than bills, of course) is fun.
Finally no thankful list that starts with the letter P would be complete unless i mention purple, my very favorite color.
With that, i think i have rounded out to more than a dozen thankfuls, i am glad we don't really have to keep that careful of a count. No perfectionism needed!
Please write up your own list and link up to Ten Things of Thankful, where Kristi and her co-hosts always have a warm welcome waiting.

I always appreciate your grateful lists which goes from the very personal to community gratitude effortlessly.
ReplyDeleteStay well, stay safe.
Thank you Lord for everything; and for forgiving us when we forget to be thankful.
ReplyDeleteGod bless.
That's quite a list and a delightful one too!
ReplyDeleteWhile I probably should celebrate Laundromat Day, I'm going to hold off for a weeknight... ;-D
ReplyDeleteI didn't think anyone ironed anymore. Love peas, but only cooked, I used to love them raw, but they make me sneeze for an hour straight. Bingo on all the "P" words and yes on piano lessons, even if they never play again, it does give one proper appreciation.
ReplyDeleteWOW, you really had a lot of P everywhere, but those were great choices!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great list! I especially loved prayer, peace, and piano. Those three items really help make home, home.
ReplyDeleteI'll add to our list..pension cheques and pizza.
ReplyDeleteThat is a great list. I wish I had piano lessons as a child. I got a free piano years ago and attempted lessons, but I think that time has passed for me.
ReplyDeleteA wonderful grateful list. Grateful for those that are selflessly helping those in need. Grateful for people that God brought into our lives, both nice and not so nice people to mold our lives. Take care and stay safe.
ReplyDeleteWhat is it about purple that attracts so many people? I used to iron every day before work...I havent in about a year except a few SPECIAL occasions....I guess I have given up perfection as well.
ReplyDeleteMimi,
ReplyDeletePoint on with many 'Ps' of thanksgiving! Although purple isn't my top favorite color these days as I prefer the color pink but when I was little purple was my #1 color. I love the scent of peppermint which always makes me think of Christmas. Peanut butter anything is a winner with me but putting it together with chocolate is always a great combination. :) Thanks for joining me over the weekend for Cathy's Pinup Girl Art Sketch Series 'P', my dear. Stay healthy now! ;)
Ironing, funny subject for me. When my youngest son was about ten I said to him have you seen my ironing board. His response was ... What's an ironing board? If I can avoid ironing I do :) Have a great week!
ReplyDeleteOh delightful thankful list ~ like someone said ~ surprised to hear someone still irons ~
ReplyDeleteBe Well ~
A ShutterBug Explores,
aka (A Creative Harbor)
A great list of "P" thankfuls.
ReplyDeleteI got out the iron this past week when I was doing a little sewing. It doesn't get used very often here. When I watched a Youtube video this week I saw that there is such a thing as a cordless iron. I am so out of the loop on some things! HaHa
It is so true, that no matter where we go in life, the place from which we born and lived a while is always part of us.
The ❤️ the smell of peppermint!
Have a good week, Mimi.
We still have a piano and make a lot of "noise" with it. My 13 month old grandson loves striking the keys with his little fingers.
ReplyDelete(I'm sure some one above has beat me to it...)
ReplyDeletePerfect Post
Have a good week.
