Grandmother Logic (Cajun Joke) and Sunday Selections

***********************************

Just because Sandee of Comedy Plus is no longer hosting a Silly Sunday blog hop, do not expect me to quit telling Cajun jokes, especially as it has now become a habit.

Yesterday, at Grandma and Grandpa's house, the talk turned to folk remedies.  Grandpa, the retired physician, noted that he put stock in gargling with warm salt water, but not much else.  Grandma noted that at least some of those old remedies seemed to have helped, although most were nonsense.

Boudreaux done be tellin' Aline an' Tee 'bout how hims Grand-mère use do de home remedy when he be a chile.  "When me soeur [sister] an' me done get de mumps, Grand-mère done buy de tin o' de sardine.  Den she take her two kerchief, an' she put half de sardine in each, an' she tie dem round de mumps."

"What fo' she do dat, Père?" ax Aline.

"Dat be what I ax her later, when I be big, I say, 'Grand-mère, what fo' you done tie sardine 'round me when I be a chile wit' de mumps?' and she done look at me an' say, 'Well, you don' gots you de mump now, do you?'"

Sunday Selections was started as a way for bloggers to use photos that might otherwise just languish in their files.  The rules have been relaxed, and it is now simply a showcase for your photos, new or old, good or bad, although nothing rude, please.  It is now hosted by Elephant's Child.

Today, a little of this and that.

From Grandma's house, her latest works:

A cute piggy:

She is always changing up her fairyland:

This one is an accurate description of her:

A couple of old family photos (these were hard to get):

Four more of those fun signs from around town:

Whoever your own MoonPie happens to be!

Hope everyone is having a blessed and beautiful Sunday.

let's enjoy today, the Lord's day. We'll be going to Holy Mass at our parish by utube connection. Hope it works better than last week when so many church services broke the internet - apparently. Good problem to have, I suppose. Business couldn't do it but the church did.

  7. Hoping your Sunday is filled with both peace and laughter. My mother had no money to take us to the doctor and when we got ear infections she poured very warm olive oil in our ears. It seemed to work!
