Poetry Monday was started by Diane at On The Alberta/Montana Border. She and Jenny at Procrastinating Donkey take turns providing a theme each week. Charlotte/Mother Owl almost always participates, too. This week the theme is the Antics of Pets.
My free verse poem, Rule of Cat:
If the cat did not see you
Put fresh water in the bowl
Then you did not do it.
Rule of Cat.
If the cat wants to eat
And the bowl bottom is showing
Then it’s not enough food.
Rule of Cat.
If you just cleaned the box
The cat has to get in it
Right this moment.
Rule of Cat.
If the cat wants outside just a minute
After the cat wanted to come in,
You have to let the cat out.
Rule of Cat.
Brush the cat where it does not
Want to be brushed, risk
Your skin and your life.
Rule of Cat.
The cat will never stop trying
To get to the treat box
Or open forbidden cabinets.
Rule of Cat.
No matter who pays the bills
Or buys the food,
The cat is in charge here.
Rule of Cat.

ReplyDeleteAnd I will add another. If you buy some food (which I liked yesterday) I will refuse it as poison. Rule of Cat.
I love the photos where the dogs are sleeping. Rule of cat only applies to the dry food bowl here. Everything else, Lola couldn't care about.
ReplyDeleteRule of Cat is a funny, but I think true poem. Our cat was stupider than a door, so it never minded anything og those.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful dogs, especially the Alsatian. Great photo when they're asleep.
ReplyDeleteGod bless, Mimi.
Bless you, Ives W. McGaffee!
ReplyDeleteMeeting up with friends is always such a good time. Glad the pups enjoyed themselves.
ReplyDeleteHaving our pets around us is good company and fun.
