Jobs and Handymen and Lost Keys, a Word Counters Random and Happy Tuesday Post

It's time once again for a random and happy Tuesday, linking up with Stacy's Random Thoughts at Stacy Uncorked and Sandee at Comedy Plus.  

Part of today’s post is also a writing challenge. This is how it works: one of the contributing bloggers picked a number between 12 and 74. The submitted number is a challenge to participating bloggers to write at least one piece using that exact number of words.

Bigger Girl is enjoying California and interviewing for jobs.  So far, her favorite and the one she hopes to get is being trained as a crematorium operator.  That actually sounds right up her alley.

This is the child who dressed in Goth black not because she wanted to be Goth, but because small children scare her (it's an Asperger autism thing).  She claimed it made moms avoid her!

She took delight, when dressed that way, in holding doors open for people, smiling at them brightly, and cheerfully telling them, "Have a blessed and beautiful day!"  She relished the startled looks that caused.

Dr. D, as is her usual wont these days, was on a tear from the moment i walked in.  "Handyman Shay is coming, we have to hurry up and be ready for him!"  (She was dressing up, taking her curlers out, and had colored her hair the night before.  No clue why she was doing all of this for the handyman.)

"We have to set all of these little flags out 10 feet from the house, and I can't find the measuring tape, but here's a 2 foot ruler, can you measure ten feet and get these set up?"

Upon reminding her that he would have a measuring tape of his own, and would need precise measurements, she said, "I know, but I want to do this before he comes to he can get an idea of what I'm talking about.  Here, put the tablecloth on the outdoor table, and set up the blueprints.  Oh, and I lost the spare key to the car, so keep an eye out for it, I drove home with it Friday so it has to be here somewhere.  Also, the cats need food and water, and I bought this tire gauge, go measure the tires I think something is wrong with the sensor.  But wait, don't do that until you get to the cats, but first the measuring!"

Once Handyman Shay came, i went indoors and spent almost 20 minutes in relative peace and quiet, and actually got a whole lot done.

He'd brought his dad, Mr. Cal, along to help, so i went out to say hello to him.  He and his wife attend the Sunday evening small group, and I have not seen them since the whole stay home orders started.  When i told him to tell his sweetheart that i miss her and send my greetings, he said, "How do you know her?  Oh, you mean my wife!"

Mr. Cal is one of the funniest storytellers you would ever wish to meet, and i really needed to hear that joke from him.  Once he and Mr. H at the small group get started, there is no stopping them as they've been friends 40+ years and play off of each other and can keep a room roaring with laughter.

When Dr. D is on a tear, you need the laughter.  She calmed down once all of the consulting about the house was done and she could come in and sit on her heating pad.

Everything got done except finding that doggone key.  For all i know, it could be under the pile of files on the bed.  Or the pile of files on the table, or the papers strewn about by the computer...

Unless she threw it away by accident, like everything else in that house, it will turn up, when we are least expecting it.
