It was one of the last places i wanted to be, heading into a store to buy safety pins, of all things. Large safety pins, i had been told they had to be large.
My sore feet carried me back to the "notions" department, as it used to be called, and the very nice lady helped me find a jar with 100 of the pins in it; with a bright cushion on the top into which to stick the pins, it was perfect.
On a whim, as i got the few other things on her list, i stopped to see if i could find that one specific item, a game for a child that was to be his special gift. Sure enough, there was one left; snagging it in jubilation, i made my way to the registers and used the card for her purchases and my saved up cash for mine.
As i left, i heard the jingle of the Salvation Army bell and i could not help but grab the bit of change i had left out of my pocket and drop it in the bucket.

It's Angel Sammy's Poetry Day! This week's image and my poem:
This reminds me of something i’ve seen on a plaque many times:
Sometimes i jes’ sits an’ thinks,
An’ sometimes i jes’ sits!
So i wasn’t quite sure how to do this one, seriously or with a funny twist at the end. What came out was this:
Peace, calm, time to breathe
Out here i can hear my thoughts
And can’t hear the kids

I like that story, hoping it's a true one. Your Christmas dressed fences are very nice. I wish this was the tradition we had taken over from USA instead of all the garish lights. I might start a fence-decorating committee :)
ReplyDeleteNice story with the six sentence. Wishing you peace and calm and time to enjoy your thoughts. I am sure Coda loves spending time with you too. Lovely Christmas fence.
ReplyDeletePeace, calm, time to breathe - something we all need to create for ourselves.
ReplyDeleteLove your story and your poem.
Is Gosia ok do you know?
It's a shame we do not decorate fences over here.
ReplyDeleteGod bless.
I bet Coda loves to visit you and gets some good spoiling. We have several fences around here that are all lit up at night which is really pretty.
ReplyDeleteOooh! Hey... I'm cuttin' out cookies today! One good thing about working remotely due to snow - you can multi-task. :-)
ReplyDeletegreat six, good fence, cookie cutter day! who can sayno to cookies? not this guy.
ReplyDelete" Peace, calm, time to breathe
ReplyDeleteOut here i can hear my thoughts " Many times I;m this way, especially after I'm upset. Today's world needs to show peace. Have a great day Mimi.

We drop the change in as well. There is always someone at our grocery store and we always give for those in need.
ReplyDeleteLove your poem. I laughed out loud.
Coda does look like a very good pup.
Have a fabulous Thankful Thursday, my friend. I'm thankful for you. ♥

ReplyDeleteCoda is a cutie. Great poem and story I always try to give something to their kettles.
ReplyDeleteYour six sentence story rang some bells- there's a ring of truth throughout, it feels l real Christmas story.
ReplyDeletemy Thankful Thursday post is an Attitude of Gratitude
ReplyDeleteThat's a nice poem and a very tranquil picture. I walked my neighbourhood yesterday looking for Christmas decorated yards, all I saw were two trees each with a giant red bow and one with a giant purple bow.
ReplyDeleteYour Six is uplifting and refreshing as an example of the spirit and generosity we should aspire and not only during the Christmas holiday.
ReplyDeleteAs to the poem, well, lol, whatever works!
Coda looks so sweet and no doubt very good company :)
A sweet reminder to give whenever and wherever one can.
ReplyDeletePerhaps it is just in our area, but I think because of COVID-19 there are fewer red buckets this year, and instead are requesting donations online.
The best thing to hear is the jingle of change in the pot of good will. Somebody will eat better because of it.
