Sparks, the brainchild of Annie of McGuffy's Reader, is on hiatus, so here's an Inspiring Quote of the Week in her honor.

Poetry Monday was started by Diane at On The Alberta/Montana Border. Jenny at Procrastinating Donkey is on a blog break because of her husband's health. Charlotte/Mother Owl always participates, and now Karen at Baking in a Tornado is jumping in some weeks, too. Spike's Best Mate often leaves a wonderful poem in the comments on one of our blogs.
This week the theme is Winnie-The-Pooh, as today is the anniversary of the birth of his creator, A.A. Milne.
Deep in the Hundred Acre Woods
Where Christopher Robin did play,
There is a cast of characters
That charm me to this day.
The poems and stories about them are
Beloved by me still.
Getting to read them to children does
Even now give me a thrill.
Winnie-the-Pooh is special,
And Piglet is just a dear,
Wise Owl's lectures unforgettable,
He makes things very clear.
Kanga's a wonderful mother,
To her very bouncy Roo,
Speaking, of course, of bouncy,
You have to love Tigger, too.
My personal very favorite
Is Eeyore in his Gloomy Place,
That precious little donkey,
Makes me want to kiss his face.
We were very young, and we turned six,
At Pooh Corner we learned how
To get along, and make a friend,
Yes, i'd go back, even now.

ReplyDeleteGod bless.
I love your poem. I love your lists and the kitten is cute. Thank you for posting faithfully every day.
ReplyDeletePoor lonely little foster. I hope he finds a home soon.
ReplyDeleteLoved your poem - and yes, Tigger and Eeyore were always my favourites.
Nice foster kitten left all alone. It has big round eyes. I love its colour. I like your poem.
ReplyDeleteAwwwww! what an absolute cutie I hope a suitable loving home is found soon :-)
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed your poem too :-)
Have a kittentastic safe Monday 😷😷😷
If the Dave Batista listed is Dave Bautista I read an article about him over the week-end where he put up a $20,000 reward for anybody leading to the identity of the deranged individual that scratched the word TRUMP into the skin of a manatee.
ReplyDeleteI saw that in our newspaper and it said the trump was spray painted on.
DeleteThe blue eyes on the kitten are adorable! Small changes do create confidence. Mom is in the process of changing her work process in baby steps and it is building confidence. Have a great week!
ReplyDeleteOK, I'm not a cat fan and even *I* went "Awww!" over that one...
ReplyDelete(And that's a very cool fact about unsliced bread!)
That is a good one, yes it is
ReplyDeleteLove the poem. Let us all return to the days of Winnie The Pooh
ReplyDeleteAdorable and precious little kitty ~ wishing her a forever home soon! Xox

That wee kitten is so cute and I'm surprised it's not adopted already. That was a great Spark!
ReplyDeleteAwww, that kitten is adorable and I'm sure will have a forever home when it's time. So cute.
ReplyDeleteLove the poem. I'll go with you.
Thank you for joining the Awww Mondays Blog Hop.
Have a fabulous Awww Monday and week. Big hug. ♥
The kitten is such a little doll! I just love A.A. Milne and who doesn't love Pooh and all his friends!
ReplyDeleteWhat a splendid poem- I too love Pooh! and your spark is so appropriate for these dark days! And the kitty reminds me of Lucy when she first came to our home! Have a lovely day!
ReplyDeleteSuch a cute kitten. Great spark and poem. My niece's favorite was Eeyore- I bought her one for every holiday and even a graduation one when she graduated from high school.
ReplyDeleteCute poem. Wee kit looks like, "Mom?". I don't think I could work or volunteer there, I would want to adopt all of them!
ReplyDeleteCat
That tiny kitty reminds me of my "Shadow" that I had as a teenager, same smoky grey all over. I haven't read any of the Pooh stories.
ReplyDeleteWhat a tiny baby! And your Spark resonates! Than you! Have a marvellously Happy Day!
ReplyDeleteI LOVE YOUR WINNIE-THE-POOH POEM! Perfect!
ReplyDeleteYou've kept the exact flavour of those beloved stories.
And that kitten. Ooooh, my heart!
A beautiful, fluffy little fellow...He won't remain alone for long!
ReplyDeleteTake good care, messymimi. :)
They are all lovely characters, aren't they. It is a long time since I read the book but you've prompted me to add it to my next library reservations so that I can re-read it. I regret there's no poem from me this week as I couldn't gather my random thoughts into a logical verse. It's so frustrating when this happens. Better luck next week, I hope.
ReplyDeleteSweet photos! Those kittens capture your attention, always. Love visiitng here. Thanks for being here too.
