Words for Wednesday was begun by Delores and has become a moveable feast of word or picture or music prompts to encourage us to write stories, poems, or whatever strikes our fancy.

“What I'd like to know," he said as he tried to HEFT a large piece of wood up onto the waiting sawhorses, "is how those building shows on TV make it all look so much easier than it is."

She smiled, looking up from the plans for the PERGOLA that would soon grace their walkway in the back.  She'd spent months trying to VISUALIZE how best to use that space.

"It's just the magic of TV, which makes a MYTH look real," she noted.  "There's no PAUCITY of people willing to believe they can make over their home in just a few easy steps."

Then, "Here, let me help.  Where are those workers we hired?  They should have been here by now."

"They're another myth," he said, grinning.  "Bigfoot and construction workers who are on time, the stuff legends are made of, and I know you can think of more."

"The GREED for gold that turns to MADNESS when someone has struck a vein," she said.

"The TRAVELLER whose planes are always on time," he added, and she groaned.  

"That's beyond myth and legend, that's just not possible," she laughed.

"What, are you saying I'm making that up?" he pretended to pout.  "Maybe I won't direct the building of your pergola."

""Maybe I'll change my mind and ask you to build me a new fireplace in the family room with a huge INGLENOOK on each side instead of the pergola.  Or worse, make you try to grow a YEW tree in this climate!"

Their laughter was interrupted by two pickup trucks swinging into the drive, each packed with several men, all dressed for working outdoors.

"There's our crew," he said.  "Looks like we might get this show on the road after all, even if it's not going to get done in a one hour TV segment."
