Linking up with Wordless Wednesday and Sandee at Comedy Plus.
***********************************
Words for Wednesday was begun by Delores and has become a moveable feast of word or picture or music prompts to encourage us to write stories, poems, or whatever strikes our fancy.
This month, the prompts are being provided by yours truly.
The whole point is to write and have fun, so please join in, you don't even have to use the prompts if you don't want. Let them be a springboard, not a straight jacket.
This week’s words are
experiment
worker
final
mosquito
salesperson
address
and/or one or both of these phrases
there’s no I in team
in a pickle
"Are you the one who gave my ADDRESS to some SALESPERSON?" he asked, glaring.
"Now why would I do something like that?" was the response, with a smirk.
"That guy was more irritating than a MOSQUITO!"
"Call it an EXPERIMENT to see if he had what it takes to sell to the likes of you, find out if he would be a good WORKER."
"Well, you put me In A Pickle! Ours is a "no solicitation" neighborhood, and I almost had to call the sheriff's office to get him to leave."
"That's wasn't very sporting of you."
"All right, that's it. That is the FINAL straw. Look, I've listened to your stupid platitudes about how 'There Is No I In Team,' and I've overlooked your sarcasm and even rudeness. I'm not overlooking them any longer. I quit!"
"Sure you do. I'll see you at the meeting in 10 minutes."
"No, you won't, because I've been putting in applications to other companies in this area, and got interviews, and I've got a job offer I'm going to take. Right now, I'm going into my office and pack, and by the time your meeting is over, I will be gone."
"But you can't do that!"
"I already have, and if you are looking for someone to replace me, hire that sales guy you sent to my house. He's almost as irritating as you are, you two should get along just fine!"

ReplyDeleteGod bless.
Ha Ha.
DeleteLove your story.
ReplyDeleteMine (which pales by comparison is below.
Carl was an excellent salesman (oops salesperson). His weekly address spouted all of the common positive phrases, anything which could fire his team up and propel them across the line. Most of us tuned him out, treating him like an irritating mosquito.
There is NO I in team he shouted. However I want each and every one of you to promise to yourselves (and all the other workers) ‘I will do my best’.
Out of the corner of his mouth Dave muttered ‘Do you think he will accept ‘I did my best’ in our performance appraisal?
Peter winced and said ‘that is an experiment I am not brave enough to take. It would be my last I think, for Carl winning isn’t everything. It is the only thing. He is wrong, but sadly our pay packets depend on us pretended he isn’t.
Oh, I always feel sad for those salespersons. Carl's are bad.
DeleteIt's hard to work for someone like this Carl. Well told!
DeleteThank you for inspiration.
ReplyDeleteNow I have done my part: WfW. Now off for coffee to return and read your words later.
And Wow Mimi what a punch this story packed!

ReplyDeleteHave a shiverlesstastic week 👍
Enjoyed your 'rant', especially as I used to be one of those irritating salepersons!
ReplyDeleteGreat story. I hate irritating salespersons who can't take a hint and leave.
ReplyDeleteWe have some ice cube trays, but they live in the cupboard most of the time.
ReplyDeleteI've not seen ice cube trays in a very long time. I so remember keeping them full so we'd have ice.
ReplyDeleteLove your use of the prompts. Well done and I'm so proud of that person leaving. Enough is enough.
Thank you for joining the Wordless Wednesday Blog Hop.
Have a fabulous Wordless Wednesday. Big hug. ♥

I have given up on ice cube trays, they always seem to split. I buy the ice cube bags to freeze them now. They take up less room too.
ReplyDeleteNice story- I bet many daydream of that. :)
ReplyDeleteWe have an automatic ice maker in the freezer. But I use to love to make ice cubes with fresh fruit or mint for ice tea and things in the summertime. My mom had the metal ones with the pull up handle. Now I am telling my age. Your stories are always excellent, good choice to share. Thanks so much for all you do to entertain us. HUGS
