Linking up with Wordless Wednesday and Sandee at Comedy Plus.

Words for Wednesday was begun by Delores and has become a moveable feast of word or picture or music prompts to encourage us to write stories, poems, or whatever strikes our fancy.
This month, the prompts are being provided by lissa at The Memory Tourist.
This week's prompts are:
1. secret
2. garden
3. walk
4. world
5. abandon
6. magic
7. life
8. forever
9. key
10. spring
(Prompts are inspired by The Secret Garden by Frances Hodgson Burnett)
When i was a child, i did enjoy the book The Secret Garden, and i wanted a GARDEN of my own, SECRET or not.
Alas, i had to FOREVER ABANDON hope for such a thing, as i do not have the MAGIC touch to raise plants.
In fact, in my WORLD, i am known as a plant killer. Some clients use me to do weeding as i have a scorched earth policy when i'm done.
Plants give up on LIFE and commit suicide when they know i will own them. If they could WALK, they'd run away, i am certain.
If i had some herbs growing in pots above my window sill like some people do, you'd have to call it "death row".
The only exception was the plant in the Wordless Wednesday photo above. It was a decoration at Sweetie's work that was going to be thrown out after the event where it graced the head table, so he brought it home and put in on the porch, despite my protest that it wouldn't last through the SPRING.
We called it Gerry the Geranium, and i figured out the KEY to keeping it alive. By telling it it belonged to Sweetie, it lasted several years!

Smiling at your story. Much as I love my garden there are some plants I simply cannot grow.
ReplyDeleteKeeping plants alive can be a fight. I'm happy you found the trick. My trick is telling them that they are edible - no idea why.
ReplyDeleteI once managed to kill 4 orchids in the space of an hour.
ReplyDeletePlants are just not as easy as some people make them look!
Lovely geraniums.
ReplyDeleteGod bless, Mimi.

ReplyDeleteThat was a cute story and the geranium sure is pretty!
ReplyDeleteSo you have a black thumb. You made me laugh out loud.
ReplyDeleteThank you for joining the Wordless Wednesday Blog Hop.
Have a fabulous Wordless Wednesday. Big hug. ♥
Mimi,
ReplyDeleteI don't do well with plants, either. I always say I have a black thumb. The first Today in History you mentioned about Thomas Cromwell being executed for Treason by orders of King Henry the VIII reminded me of the ShowTime TV series based on his life, The Tudors. It's fictional but they do use historical names and perhaps a portion of events but I can't say how accurate. We enjoyed watching it, though.
we bet garfield noez it bee nationalz lasagna day !! :) ♥♥☺☺
ReplyDeleteBeautiful geranium ~ Xo

Beautiful geranium and cute story. :)
ReplyDeleteGeraniums are very hard to kill and will grow practically anywhere. My mum used to plant them in every yard we ever had, because they were guaranteed to grow. We even had a few in pots, but most were a hedge behind whatever front fence we had at the time. Whenever we moved pieces were taken from each plant to ensure we had enough to start over.
ReplyDeleteI think I'm the same - I can't keep plants alive, it's the reason I don't have them. I quite like how you use the prompts.
ReplyDeleteHave a lovely day.
I am good with plants my daughter who lives here is a plant killer. SHe killed two money plants before the poor things could get a drink of water. I think she forgets to water them. I have a a few that are full a nd pretty and a few scrawny ones. heeheehee My sweet mint is trying to take over my small garden. I may have to use drastic measures. It is an earth hog.
