Words for Wednesday was begun by Delores and has become a moveable feast of word or picture or music prompts to encourage us to write stories, poems, or whatever strikes our fancy.
This month, the prompts are being provided by Cindi and posted on her page Of Dandelions and Sunshine
The Challenge: They say a picture is worth 1,000 words. Write at least 100 words about the image below.
Someday, she thought, I’m not going to be driving a desperation car with a cracked windshield. Someday.
Meanwhile, she did what she had to, although she hated to commute over the bridge in “Old Unreliable” as she’d taken to calling the clunker. A breakdown up there would be a nightmare. She didn’t know firsthand, but she’d been stuck in enough traffic jams because of the misfortune of others that she sure didn’t want it to happen to her.
Offhandedly she noted the storm clouds building, and mentally searched for where she’d last seen her umbrella. While it was tempting to reach back and root around to see if she could find it, she resisted. It was either on the back seat floor or not, she’d find out soon enough, and she didn’t need an accident, either.
Just a few more months, she thought, and the credit card will be paid, and we’ll start saving for a better car. Eyes on the road, don’t lose sight of the goals. Just a few more months.
