Thankful All Over The Place, a Ten Things of Thankful Post

 ***********************************

It's Thankful Day and there's a boatload of thankfulness to celebrate.

First up, it's Purple Day, the day to support epileptics around the world.

This includes our canine friends who have epilepsy.

My thankfulness is for those in the medical community who work with epileptics and do research so those with epilepsy can lead normal lives.

Young Jacob, a good friend, has epilepsy and i am thankful that he is doing well in his chosen profession in another state.  (We miss him, but that's another story.)

Closer to home, i'm thankful i was able to drop our tax papers off directly with the CPA last Saturday.  No worries about late or misdirected or lost mail.

The talk early this week was weather.  There were warnings being bandied about, and Ms. D, my Tuesday lady, even told me not to come if the weather looked bad.

Thankfully it was cloudy but not raining or awful when it was time to go to work, so i got to go.

When the weather finally got to us, late in the afternoon, we got a short period of thunder, followed by a gullywasher of a rain for a while, and then a beautiful sunset.  We're thankful to have gotten off relatively lightly, it could have been much, much worse.

We had another car incident for which to be thankful this week.  When i got home Wednesday, i noticed Sweetie's tire was low yet again, so i rushed Lunceford the Land Yacht over to Kevin and Lenny before the tire got too flat to roll and got them to give me a ride home.  This time, i told them, no patches, just replace the bad tires.

That was all four of them, of course, but again, we're thankful they sell us decent tires at a reasonable price, give us a warranty, and let us make payments.

Once again we're thankful not to have had a towing bill.

Because #2 Son turned 26 this month, he is dropping off of our health insurance and i've been after him to get on his company plan.  He came by earlier this week and he agreed to do that, got the paperwork, and then called me to discuss the plans and make his choice.  He's young and invincible, of course, and i'm thankful he has insurance anyway.

This weekend, Mimi Lenox, founder of Blog4Peace, is sponsoring Blog4Peace Ukraine.

In a world full of awful things, including war, i am thankful for those who are standing for and praying for and working for peace.

To paraphrase Mr. Rogers, look for the helpers.  I'm deeply thankful for those who are risking their lives to bring aid to Ukraine.

In other news, today Bigger Girl turns 29!  While i'm sad she's not nearby to celebrate with us, i'm thankful

she's working at a job she loves,

she's living in a place where the public transportation is good so she doesn't have to drive (the poor child is a menace on the road, plain and simple),

she overcame odds and several learning difficulties to get a college degree,

she's working toward her dream of joining the Peace Corps (as soon as Covid regulations allow them to start up again).

Many Happy Returns of the Day, Bigger Girl!

Please write up your own list and link up to Ten Things of Thankful, where Dyanne and her co-hosts always have a warm welcome waiting.

  11. Pass along HBs from the Doctrine

    Excellent phrase,

as 'not exciting as, say, getting the radio/phone to work properly, new tires has a certain, 'ok, we can proceed a bit further into the future' thing going for it.
    have a good week

  13. Great list, Mimi! I'm glad the storms missed you. I saw they were headed your way and was concerned! Kevin and Lenny to the rescue again! New tires are so expensive, and we always wait until the tires are bald and the belts are separating, but it's such a relief to have new ones on the car! When our son turned 26 last year (he's our oldest) we called it Kyle Dillon Emancipation Day because he not only got his own health insurance through work, he also started paying for his own car insurance, too!
