She had just sat down with the family for breakfast when daughter asked, "What's an eruption?"
"I know, I know!" son said, "I saw it on TV!"
"Go ahead, son, tell her," she smiled her encouragement.
"Well, it's that thing where the medicine commercial says if it lasts more than four hours, you need to see your doctor," innocence said, then looked quite confused when dad started laughing so hard he almost fell out of his chair.
While order was being restored, she told daughter, "It's okay, sweetheart, we'll talk about volcanos later. As for you, young sir, I think you've been watching way too much television!"

While Good Fences Around the World seems to have gone the way of the dodo bird, i still enjoy looking for and posting interesting fences, so i will!
A few of those long, country fences, taken from inside the car as we were heading home.

It's Angel Sammy's Poetry Day! This week's image and my poem:
I always wanted to be a part
of the Demolition Derby.
Those guys and gals just seem so brave
and very, very nervy.
You make your car run into others,
parts falling off and crash landing,
and everyone keeps it up until
there's only one car standing!

Brian of Brian's Home hosts the Thankful Thursday Blog Hop. It's time to share something for which i am thankful.
Today we are thankful for the bit of rain we had yesterday. There was no rain, then i heard a crash and it was raining in the front yard, but not the back, which has happened before. Eventually it was raining all around us, and the whole storm lasted about ten minutes. We could see blue skies to the east and west, so we knew it was going to be short and we sure needed it.

Your story gave me my Thursday smile, Mimi! The voice of innocence is so refreshing. Thanks for telling that story.
ReplyDeleteSmiling here. At your six sentence story, your fences and your poem.
ReplyDeleteLove the story, your poem's delightful too!!
ReplyDeleteIt's good to take photos of fences outside the car. Not much room inside the car for fences.
ReplyDeleteGod bless.
Thanks for the funny story and poem. The weather forecast said that there will be thunderstorm this afternoon but we only had a few drops of rain.
ReplyDeleteThat was a funny story! That was just the right poem for that photo and we'd be thankful for a bit of rain too. Thanks for joining our Thankful Thursday Blog Hop!
ReplyDeleteYes, TV can open up some interesting conversation points for parents that they were not expecting, LOL!

ReplyDeleteCute poem and who knows, maybe they'll be famous one day!
Glad you got just enough rain. And how wild is that - in the front, not the back.

ReplyDeletebah rum bump!*
ReplyDelete*compliment on a Six that causes one to smile into laughter, sitting at a computer miles and miles away
Don't those kinds of advertisements come on later at night when innocence should be asleep in bed? I've seen a demolition derby on TV and that's as close as I ever want to get to one. The noise would get to me in real life.
ReplyDeleteLove those kids in the car ~ and you are wonderful with words ~ great photos too ~ Xo
ReplyDeleteWishing you good health, laughter and love in your days,
