The Happy Way to Recap a Week, a Ten Things of Thankful Post

Thankful Day is a wonderful time to stop and recap.  As usual, i'm thankful i took notes.

The dogs had a great time on Saturday in NOLA, and they were thrilled to see Little Girl and her boyfriend when it was time to go home.

While we had the dogs, those two went to the Grand Canyon and were mightily impressed.  The photos were stunning.  

Saturday was also another mini crisis day, Brother-in-Law lost his debit card.  We're thankful he was able to cancel it quickly so it did not get used by anyone else, and he got it replaced on Monday.

My Tuesday lady, Ms. D, had some work for me to do, but mostly what she wanted this week was to see if i could help her figure out some of the jargon on her insurance papers.  A careful reading showed that she can easily increase her flood insurance for a very small increases in premium, and she chose to do that.  Then we went over her homeowners policy, and determined that if she raises her deductible, she can probably save there.  We discussed exactly what to ask when she calls the agent, and we'll talk it over again soon.

Ms. G greeted me on Wednesday with, "Once you get the litter room clean, we've got more important stuff than vacuuming today."

By the time we moved furniture, i was thankful i'm still able to do that.  By the time i got back from Cramco (i.e. Costco, so called because you can't cram it all in the car), i was thankful she only wanted 3 bags of birdseed and a case of Diet Coke.  She also has recruited me to help out with some critter care that she's going to pay me to do, once a week for the next six weeks, and i'm thankful i was able to meet up with the trainer and learn the ropes.

Thursday we were thankful the clothes to fold at work were not piled too high, and the children have both started back to school so there is a little more sense of schedule in the whole household.

When i arrived at the church for prayer group Friday morning, i had a scare.  The alarm is supposed to turn off at 6am, and i wait until about two minutes after to enter just to make sure.  When i entered at 6:02, the alarm started to beep.  Just before the alarm would have sounded, it disarmed.

Then i got upstairs to make the coffee and found the water to the coffee maker was disconnected because they took out the water fountain to paint behind it.  Thankfully there is another coffee maker downstairs, so i ran and got it started, then brought two water pitchers upstairs and filled that one so i could do the other two pots.  Crisis averted, we had coffee.

The evening shift at the shelter was fabulous.  Every time i go, it seems, there are more new volunteers.  There were also people adopting and there's plenty of work to go around.  We were thankful when one volunteer figured out how to get the washer open that was stuck mid-cycle, and the repair person has been called.
