It was early, and the coffee hadn't been set up the night before.
The coffee maker, a cheap drip style, had been showing signs of wearing out, sputtering and not wanting to work properly.
Plans had been made to replace it, meanwhile, i was turning it on with the end of a wooden spoon pressed against where the "on" button had fallen out.
This morning, placing the dowel shaped end of the spoon into that area, it spit out a spark at me and refused to do anything else.
Sweetie was sent to procure coffee at the nearest fast food place that proffered liquid life post haste.
Once i had a belt in me, it was going to be off to the Mall-Mart -- we cannot and will not live without a coffee maker around here.

While Good Fences Around the World seems to have gone the way of the dodo bird, i still enjoy looking for and posting interesting fences, so i will!
These are some of the fences at the cemetery.

It's Angel Sammy's Poetry Day! This week's image and my poem (i did two poems, i couldn't resist the haiku):
I can't imagine
having to brush all these teeth
must take all day long
*******
Open your imagination,
creation's full of surprises,
of plants and beasts in varying
shapes and kinds and sizes.
Some we get to see each day
and some are from times long past,
some creatures we get to pet,
and some make us run fast!
Don't close your mind to the possible,
there's so much to learn, you see;
let the past spring you into the future,
work toward what you want it to be.

ReplyDeleteAll who can't live with our favorite coffee, raise your hands! (*raising both)
ReplyDeleteAlthough personally indifferent to coffee, I have known otherwise delightful ladies who were death-dealing savages before the first cup of the morning.
ReplyDeleteI love coffee. Was once addicted to coffee drinking 2 cups per day. Now I can go without coffee and not feel terrible.
ReplyDeleteI have a steaming cup of coffee before me righr now! The picture and poem are brilliant!
ReplyDeleteOh, I know what that's like: except I'm on diet coke, not coffee (hate it!). There have been many emergency runs for it if people drank my stash!
ReplyDelete"...off to the Mall-Mart. Tell me there is a place with such a name. 'a course, your ability to come up with such a low-key cool name would be less surprising.
ReplyDeleteGood Six
The coffeemaker story reminded us of the weekend. Someone plugged in the coffeemaker at the trial early Saturday morning and within seconds smoke was coming out of it. They quick unplugged it and put it outside. The hospitality person drove to Walmart and bought a new one.
ReplyDeleteThe poems are so great. Thanks Mimi.
ReplyDeleteCruisin Paul
I applaud you for speaking calm words. That's often a difficult thing to do. Have a blessed day, my friend!
ReplyDeleteLove your six and yes there must be coffee. I smiled right along.
ReplyDeleteLove your poem.
Being the calm one is most important. I can see you as the calming force.
Have a blessed Thankful Thursday, my friend. Big hug. ♥
My coffeemaker, too, is of great significance in my home. If my children see it is starting to show signs of wear and tear they are ready to replace it for me immediately.
ReplyDeleteSparks are not good! At my place it was the iron spitting sparks at me - I have a new one now ;)
ReplyDeleteOur coffee is made by pouring not-quite boiling water over the ground beans, very low-tech, old fashioned, and tasty.

ReplyDeleteOops, I forgot to say thanks for joining our Thankful Thursday Blog Hop!
ReplyDeleteWow! All those teeth. Imagine.
ReplyDeleteMy first thought was that dinosaur had been eating a lot of chocolate to turn his teeth brown like that.
ReplyDeleteI'm wondering why you didn't buy a replacement coffee maker much sooner, then it would be right there, ready to go when the old one died.
Loved your up-beat poem! Now, was that written before, or after coffee? 😊
ReplyDelete'Liquid life'! Perfect! I'm rather glad it only spit a spark at you and didn't go any further!
ReplyDeleteYeah, I struggle with brushing the 30 teeth I have now!
