Badge Blues and Pink Pigs, a Random and Happy Tuesday Post

 ***********************************

It's time once again for a random and happy Tuesday, linking up with Stacy's Random Thoughts at Stacy Uncorked and Sandee at Comedy Plus

Today i have a meeting, so i did Ms. D's house yesterday, after Carl.

Let's take things one at a time, shall we?

Carl was standing in his bathroom doorway when i walked in.  He was in such a state of dress, or should i say undress, as to make the question, are you about to take a shower? necessary.

"Just took it," he answered, grabbing the pain relief gel roller and taking a few swipes toward his knees.  Sometimes it lands, sometimes not, i think the placebo effect works wonders with him.

He finished dressing while i found him an apron to wear while he was eating, and i helped him get his belt on.  Finding the apron was no mean feat.  His mother has been after him to pick up in his room before i come so i won't trip on anything.  This week, it looks like he took a leaf out of the old "stuff everything in the closet" book of children's cleaning rules.

While i got the apron and belt on him, he talked.

"I want to join a fitness center, but I don't know which one," he told me.  "After you try one free for a couple of days, they won't let you come back unless you join.  How am I supposed to know if I'll like it after just one or two times?"

They're in business to make money, which is as it should be, i told him.  They have rules about how often you can try it out so people don't take unfair advantage.  Keep looking, you'll find something.

"They're fussing at work about the garbage.  I take it out when I get there, and again every couple of hours and then before I leave, but there's always more!"

Think of it as job security, i told him.  There will always be more, so you'll always have a job.

He didn't look convinced, but wandered off to find breakfast while saying, "My badge is here somewhere..."

His badge was hanging off his counter somewhere.

Carl's mother tries to get him to pick out his clothes the night before, and attach his badge.  Of course, the clothes he chooses the day before are never the clothes he actually puts on the next day, that would be too easy.

As i made my way to the laundry room to see what was up, i clipped the badge onto the shirt that was actually on him.  Whether it made it to the work building or not is out of my control.

There was laundry in the dryer, and it smelled clean.  There was laundry in the washer, and it was wet.  Turning on the unit, it brought up the last cycle run, which was an actual, full cleaning cycle, so he'd done the laundry correctly.

After putting the dry laundry on top of the dryer for a moment and moving the washed clothes to the dryer, i headed back to his room to gather the dirty items.  (There's always more laundry -- job security.)

There i found this.

Clean, still on a hanger, fallen into the laundry basket and left there.  Always more laundry, as i noted.

While getting the sheets off the bed, i noticed he'd grabbed the clean stuff from on top of the dryer and was distributing it, willy-nilly, around the room.  Had i allowed that to continue, it would have been mixed in with the dirty stuff, so i rescued it quickly and shooed him off to inspect the lunch i'd packed.

While over there, he noticed i had taken the top off of his "food bin," a large plastic container he keeps snacks and candy in.

"Why's the top off?" he asked.

It's time to clean it out, i told him.

"No, don't throw it all away!" he said, and i reassured him i was just cleaning out the crumbs from the cookies he didn't wrap properly before he put them in there.

Once i got done with his room, it was off to Ms. D's place.  She and i always have a nice chat, then she gets me to do the stuff she can't do, or doesn't want to do, ore needs help with.

She has a new plant watering can and i had to snap a photo.

Fill him up through the larger hole above the tail, pour it out through the snout!

This week, she had me work on the mini-blinds.  The mechanism that turns them sticks, necessitating grabbing pliers, climbing a ladder, etc.  We got them set the way she wanted them, and she's going to leave them that way.

The computer was easy, i clicked the box to let it know that no, she doeesn't want to install Microsoft Edge right now, and got the annoying message that was blocking her from using the computer to go away.  She already has Chrome and Edge on that computer, the fact that Internet Explorer is not going to be supported any longer doesn't matter.

What does matter is that the message was popping up telling her Explorer needs to be replaced, and she didn't know how to make that message go away so she could actually use the computer.

It took a bit of explaining, but i got her to understand how to click "no" and get that message gone so that she can use the computer.  Plus i told her to get her computer friend to come take Internet Explorer off the computer, it's not necessary, and that would help her not get so confused about what program to use.

She now gets it that Google Chrome will let her do Google searches (imagine that!) as well as get her to Facebook so she can keep up with the grandchildren.

Then we baked cookies!  She's had an "envie" as they say in Cajun for cookies, so cookies were baked and the kitchen cleaned.

As a salute to the time-honored throw-it-all-in-the-closet cleaning method of children everywhere, and Carl, a few funnies about children cleaning, or just cleaning.

Let's round it out with one from the husband side of the equation.

Have a blessed and beautiful Tuesday, everyone!

  5. I'm laughing because I could never tell my younger son to clean his room, I always had to break it down into tasks . . . put your clothes in the closet, Put your notebooks in the desk, put your change in the piggy bank . . . Now that he's an adult? He just leaves everything where he drops it.
