Where Were We? A Ten Things of Thankful Post

So where did we leave off for Thankful Day last week?  We'll pick up with Ms. GA and Mr. BA gone, Ms. G on her way home, and us in a borrowed vehicle.

I'm thankful Ms. G came home in time that i didn't have to do double duty, taking care of two sets of cat-sitting assignments at once.  It's doable, but it's not easy.

Ms. GA's granddaughter, Miss B, who lives with them while she's in college, locked herself out of the house.  In her defense, that lock breaks all the time and Mr. BA, who can fix just about anything, never has time to fix it.  Thankfully she has friends and places to go and i was able to tame the lock back into temporary submission and get her a key.

I'm thankful the cat-sitting went well the whole week.

On the way home from NOLA last week, i'm thankful i was in a big truck we borrowed.  It was monsoon driving again, never easy, and a big vehicle makes it a bit harder and at the same time, safer as you are less likely to just be blown off the road.

Monday i was thankful to do Carl's place then go to Ms. D's house, since she had a meeting Tuesday morning.  Sweetie turned in the car we had borrowed, we were thankful to have had it as long as we did.

Bigger Girl was to fly back home Tuesday, and we're thankful she was able to get a ride to the airport from a friend, as we had no vehicle to use to take her.

Sometimes shelter volunteering has surprises in store.  When i showed up on Wednesday, after a good rain the night before, i found a carrier abandoned by the front door.  Protocol requires i leave it there until i get a place ready inside to isolate the cat, just in case it has something that's catching, so i walked in and got an extra large carrier ready with food, water, and a small cardboard litter box.

Then i donned gloves, brought the cat in and transferred it to the bigger carrier.  It was not happy and the transfer was not easy, i'm thankful the inside of the carrier it came in was not wet from the rain the night before and i did not get attacked while the transfer was in progress as this cat was very, very angry (and i don't blame it one bit).  The carrier it came in was put outdoors and i threw the gloves away, then did my regular duties.

Ms. G decided we needed to run an errand Wednesday when i got to her place, and it was a fun errand.  We ended up having lunch, and i'm thankful for the whole outing, it was a nice change.

Because we were sharing a vehicle, i dropped Sweetie at choir practice Wednesday evening and then went back to Ms. GA's to take care of cat duty.  It made for a long day but i'm thankful we were at least both able to get where we needed to go.

Thursday went as well as a Thursday can at Ms. SE's house and i'm especially thankful i noticed the dishes in the dishwasher were not in fact clean in time to run the dishwasher and get it emptied before we left.

Meanwhile, at Kevin and Lenny's, i'm thankful they found a part for Slow-Moe.  It's been ordered and is being shipped, but has not yet come in, which has left us in limbo about going to NOLA when Saturday comes around.  Friday i was on the verge of making a reservation for a rental car when they called and told me they had the loaner for me!  That's a huge thankful thing.
