Here We Are, a Ten Things of Thankful Post

 ***********************************

Where were we?  Oh, yes, Thankful Day.

Last Sunday, i got a call from Ms. JAI telling me good news, she has finally decided to buy that condo she's been eyeing.  It's a wonderful thing and i'm thankful she finally made the decision.  Her house is huge for one person (she had 6 kids!), she can't take care of it alone any longer.

She also told me her daughter would be in town Monday so asked me to delay my cleaning.  This was a blessing in disguise as she was third on my list and my Monday went overtime when Carl couldn't find the car keys and i'm thankful it turned out that way.

There's another thankful thing, we did finally find the car keys.

For many years, Sweetie worked with Mr. H at the university.  Just over two weeks ago, we got the news Mr. H had about a week to live.  Sweetie got to have one last visit with him, and a grand time it was, enjoying memories of the years they worked together and meeting his family and his church family.

This past Tuesday was the funeral, The Big Boss gave the eulogy.  We are both thankful to have known him, he was one of a kind.

Ms. G is recovering from her surgery last week and i'm thankful she is back to her usual "always busy and in a tearing hurry" self, maybe a little too much so this soon.  She has one speed, full on.

Wednesday i was thankful i decided to check email "one more time" and found out choir practice was cancelled.  It saved Sweetie the trip.

Ms. V has finally and fully tested negative for Covid and i was thankful to get to clean their house.  She's been doing her best, but being sick she didn't feel up to doing much and it's always best when you don't go too long between cleanings.

We had a good bit of rain Thursday afternoon and evening but i decided to attend a church gathering anyway at a friend's home.  On the way i stopped at a store, and as i braked i must have hit a slick spot in the parking lot because GusGus Die Fledermaus slid forward and the left front tire went over a parking barrier.  She was not damaged, just stuck, but a nice police officer called a tow truck.

I'm thankful for no damage, the tow truck was able to gently pick up the front end of the car and roll it back, i got to the party anyway because the tow driver got there so quickly and on Friday i went to my insurance agent with the towing bill and it turns out it was covered and they gave me a check on the spot!

Then there was Friday night at the shelter.  Wowsers.  The doorbell didn't stop and it took me a long time to get my work done but it was worth it as i gave tours, talked about cats and their care, and steered two people to cats they fell in love with and took home right then!

Please write up your own list and link up to Ten Things of Thankful, where Dyanne and her co-hosts always have a warm welcome waiting.

  8. You have much to be thankful for. We must all try our best to be thankful...to not overlook the little things. There are so many far worse off than we are. I have little, but there are many who have much less.
