I'll Take Quieter, a Ten Things of Thankful Post

It's Thankful Day and it's been a quieter than usual week.

I'll take it and be thankful.

This does not mean there weren't some interesting moments.  Last Sunday, we had a monsoon.  GusGus Die Fledermaus is running well, but sometimes her A/C compressor is an on again/off again proposition.

What do these things have to do with each other?  While i was driving Becca to church it was raining, at times quite heavily, and when the A/C compressor doesn't work, the windows fog up so i kept having to pull over and wipe fog off the windows.  It was an adventure and we were thankful to get there safely (it helped that i went the long way on the side streets instead of the highway, i'm also thankful when there's more than one way to get where i need to go).

My every-other-Monday client, Ms. S, allowed me to come do her house in the morning since i was skipping out on Carl's and i was thankful, as that left me the rest of the day free to make soup for Carl's family.

Ms. V had asked for a home-made soup and i was thankful to comply.  It's been a while since i stretched myself in the kitchen (besides major holidays) and it was fun.

Tuesday, i was quite thankful for a day off.

Ms. G knew she'd be very busy Wednesday with a project of some kind at a local college so we'd already made arrangements, I was thankful not to have to rush the morning shelter duties, and i got to help at the other shelter as well. 

When i got to Ms. G's, i was very thankful to be in no hurry and simply get everything done, especially as i had a tachycardia episode that morning.  It's rare, but when it happens it's important for me to slow down and i'm glad i was in a position to do just that.

While Ms. V and family are much better and have finished all their meds, it's still not wise for me to be in their house and around them quite yet.  I'm very thankful instead of missing out on a whole day of work for them, they paid me to do the grocery shopping.  It worked out nicely, i found every item but one and with approval found a substitute for it.

Friday evening at the shelter was excellent.  The thankful things included three adoptions, lots of people looking who may still adopt, a pick-up of a pre-adopted cat, some of the isolated cats are improving nicely, and this coming Sunday, the director and our favorite volunteer veterinarian are going to do a "practice surgery" using a stuffed animal in the new surgical suite to make sure everything is ready and set up properly.

Yes, in house spay/neuter surgery is about to become a reality!
