It Taxes Us All (Six Sentence Story), Good Fences, Sammy's Poetry Day, and Brian's Thankful Thursday

Sometimes i wish i could

live in a bubble,

with family and friends,

protected from trouble.

And if there's one thing that causes trouble in my life, it's technology, because to err is human but to really foul things up requires computers, and maybe computer programmers, the IRS, and the tax program online.

Brother-in-Law gets and keeps his knickers in a knot from the moment he gets his W-2 from work, wanting me to get his taxes done yesterday, because he can't wait to get his hands on the refund.

Brother-in-Law has me use an online program, which is fine, except this program wants to have two-step verification, which means it wants to send him a code in a text message, and he doesn't text on his flip-phone, or an email at his email address which has a 27 character (yes, really) password he can only access from a flash drive my computer doesn't read, so he has to be at work on his email to give me the code.

Once i get in, the taxes themselves only take under an hour, but getting in, then pulling the trigger on filing, which also requires a code to the same email address we had to get a code from just to get in there to begin, is quite a big production.

By the time the whole thing is over, he's that much closer to being ready for the rubber room and as for me, i need a cup of cocoa and a bubble bath.

While Good Fences Around the World seems to have gone the way of the dodo bird, i still enjoy looking for and posting interesting fences, so i will!
