This week the theme is Frozen Yoghurt.
to many people
"froyo" is not a real dessert
it's a cry for help!

Gramma Rosie hated yoghurt,
she grew up on a farm,
asked if she'd ever tried it,
"Awful stuff!" she was quick to inform.
When all of us were shopping
and feeling summer's heat
we saw a frozen yoghurt shop
and thought that couldn't be beat.
Gramma Rosie was horrified
and thought it was a ploy
to get her to eat something nasty,
she didn't believe we'd enjoy.
We told her what she'd eaten,
the plain, unflavored type
was a world away from this tasty treat,
she didn't understand the hype.
After getting her in the doors
we gently urged she try
just a tiny sample spoon,
she did, and my, oh, my!
"I like this" she then told us,
and ordered the large cup,
we all had a tasty treat that day
and lapped every little bit up.
If there's something you didn't like
the old way, take a shot.
In a new form or recipe,
it just might hit the spot!

Mom can't hear that don't cry over spilled milk thing anymore! It was overused when she was little I guess. Frozen yogurt is so yummy, nothing like regular yogurt.

ReplyDeleteFirst time I tried it I was seven, in Europe, and it was plain and yummy with some strawberry jam on it. An Aunt made some and crumbled a rusk into it...now that was totally blech!
Those kittens are cutie pies, even as they snooze.
Cute kitties. I used to love frozen yoghurt as long as it was apricot flavoured, with REAL apricots, then apricots got too expensive and they switched to mango, which I hate. These days I rarely see any frozen yogurt in the supermarkets.

ReplyDeleteWe had a Froyo's in town. It didn't hang around too long. Frozen yogurt is good but nothing compares to the taste of real ice cream. :) Great poem! As for those kitties snoozin' or cruisin', I don't know what they're doin' but I'd sure like to be doin' it. I need a nap!
