Still Good People (Six Sentence Story), Good Fences, Sammy’s Poetry Day and Brian’s Thankful Thursday

 ***********************************

Ms. G had us out on another adventure yesterday, assisting one of her old friends as he and his wife prepare to have their house restored after major flood damage.

On the way, we stopped at the BigBox Hardware store out near the small town where this friend lives to get storage boxes, tape, and contractor bags; she had the tape and a box of 50 bags in her cart while i manhandled a cart with 37 storage boxes wedged in.

Back at her vehicle, she shoved her cart aside and we concentrated on moving the boxes, which are not heavy but are bulky, and then she was jumping in the drivers seat to leave as i moved that cart and i told her i was going to move the other one, also, but she yelled, "We don't have time, the cabinet guy is coming an hour early, they'll get it."

Later, as we were looking for the bags, it occurred to me why i'd wanted to stop and go back to that other cart, for sure enough, we'd left the bags and tape behind.

An air of melancholy settled over all of us as we realized what had happened, and Ms. G called the store just to see if someone had kindly turned them in.

We were all cheered immensely when we found out there are still good people in this world, and the items were turned in at the service desk, where they have now put her name on it all so she could retrieve it later.

While Good Fences Around the World seems to have gone the way of the dodo bird, i still enjoy looking for and posting interesting fences, so i will!

Big fence, little fence.

It's Angel Sammy's Poetry Day This week's image and my poem:

I pack what brings me joy

in my house that's like a toy,

and I take it out and go

to wherever life is slow.

As I sip my tea I say,

"It's such a beautiful day!"

And I never feel despair

when I'm breathing this clear air.
