Owwie (Six Sentence Story), Good Fences, Sammy’s Poetry Day and Brian’s Thankful Thursday

"It's bleeding," he said in a very sad voice, holding up his finger with a small scratch on it.

Knowing he was going to milk this for all it was worth, I decided to play along and said, "Awww, did you cut your finger?  Come on over to the sink with me and we'll wash it first."

"Don't get soap in it, it'll sting," he said as I gently rinsed and patted it dry.

"No soap," I said, "I'm just going to put antibiotic cream on it and a bandage, here, I even have one with colorful smiley faces on it."

Once he was all doctored up, and he'd gotten his "kiss to make it better," my husband looked at me and said, "You really think I'm being silly about it, don't you?" as we both burst out laughing.

Today i am thankful for Remember Me Thursday, shining a light on adoptable animals waiting for their forever homes.

I am thankful to be able to volunteer at a shelter.

I am thankful all of our cats were rescues, three we bottle raised for the shelter and we adopted them ourselves, one was rescued off the street as a kitten and sent to live with us 8 years later when her family moved.

Please do what you can to help remember those still waiting for homes -- give, adopt, volunteer, or advocate for spaying and neutering to cut down on pet overpopulation.  Every small step helps.
